Hi friends im leo im schizophrenic.but right now im ok all my delusions have gone.i take risperidone.im posting here because i feel great amount of apathy and amotivation after taking risperidone.current dosage is .5mg.i used to be a body builder.right now lifting weights and working out dont make me feel good i have trouble enjoying and finishing movie with constant excitement. i have less interest in social activities especialuy romantic relationship.i have no concern or plan for the future .i feel like DONT CARE ATITTUDE evrytime.cognitive abilities also have diminished.i had a good iq and had interst in studying .but right now i find no interestt and passion in studying.i tried antidepressant(SSRI) to reduce apathy.but no great change.ANY ONE PLEASE HELP!!!

I think it can be the negative symptoms of the illness, once the psychotic rush passes we’re left with those symptoms, it might not be the meds.

Unfortunetely, our meds don’t treat negative symptoms. There are meds under trials right now that help negative symptoms. I think Abilify helps with those too, but it gives restlessness also, so I don’t know if the trade off is good.
You might try talking to your pdoc about an antidepressant.
oh i see…minni is there any chances to recover from schizo. completely with zero relapses.i know scizo is chronic…but is there any cases of full recovery or cured 100 %
There are cases of people that don’t relapse for a lot of years if they are responsible in taking their medication. But no cure yet.

I take xeplion 75mg, a monthly shot. It raises my prolactin levels, I’ve been lactating, I might switch meds soon or take another med to keep my prolactin levels down.

No, I tried zyprexa but it left me feeling like a zombie and eating like a pig. I gained 10kg on two or three months on it, haven’t lost that weight yet
u should try risperidone .i had muscle rigidness ithe beginning n shivering.but its one.but no weight gain.

I might try abilify if the one I’m with fails to do it’s work, in the meanwhile I’m happy with it. Just the prolactin levels that suck, risperidone is known to raise prolactin levels too.
