Do you agree with Darwin's theory?

From POE

“ Yes, evolution is real. It is a scientific theory that describes the process by which species change over time through mechanisms like natural selection and genetic drift. The evidence for evolution is strong and comes from multiple fields, including:

  • Fossil records: Document transitional forms and show the history of life on Earth.
  • Genetics: Provides insights into how traits are inherited and how species are related.
  • Comparative anatomy: Reveals structural similarities among different organisms, supporting the idea of common ancestry.

Overall, evolution is a fundamental concept in biology that explains the diversity of life on our planet.”

High school? Wow. I read it when doing my undergrad.

Im not confused. Ive actually studied Genetics. Ive seen various documentaries for and against. For me thats not educational versus whats taught in the actual educational setting. I understand the theories. It’s considered undisputed fact by some who need it to be, but it’s actually still just a theory. And like all theories there are flaws as well as factors. It reaches a point and goes too far.

Changing species entirely, which evolution ultimately suggests, is not the same as adaptation where different strains of the same species appear in relation to environmental factors. Im from the school of thought that says we adapt rather than change entirely.

I think the discussion is more leaning towards semantics at this point (what words mean as opposed to what the concepts are)

Natural selection, which is not adaptability, changes animals and plants over time. Genes that are better at surviving in the conditions they are in survive and produce offspring. How to you explain dinosaurs? They all died and animals magically appeared? It’s non sensical. But you can believe what you want if it makes you happy. To me the fact we are from previous species empowers me and fills me with awe.

Watch this video on selection. It’s artificial selection, but still the same basic idea.

Neil DeGrasse Tyson thinks I live in a simulation.

How will humans evolve over the next 10M years (assuming we don’t become extinct before 10M years from now)?

Tautology or truth

Natural selection, took yellow peas into superior green peas. Particularly with careful selective breeding. But they both remain peas. They didn’t become apples or extinct. Just like humans have adapted. In the brightest areas, yellowy skin and slanty eyes. In the hottest, flatter noses and dark skin. You see where Im going.

How do we explain dinosaurs? We have theories. We don’t have facts. Even to this day, we still dispute the size and appearance of a genuine T-Rex. One theory is the water-based dinosaurs evolved. Some say that warm blooded animals co-existed and survived the disaster and started to adapt to the environment after the dinosaurs were wiped out. Truly we do not know, we can only take educated guesses. But in the end, guesses are just opinions, and opinions are not facts. I am sorry.

Anyhow. Respect to you for your views and opinions. Thats the beauty of science. Its ever evolving and moving. Old can change and give way to the new, and the new to the old. Nothing is set in stone, in this sense. Lets keep enjoying and seeking.

I’m no expert on this stuff, but I do know that males (from insects to lions to…) will fight each other for the “right” to mate.

The ability to change was Darwin’s point, not the fittest will survive

If an animal has long legs and can run from predators to survive is he more fit than a short legged animal that has a lot of offspring and gets eaten?

He doesn’t believe that. He said it’s a hypothesis.

Also

“What is fitness?” - Ones with traits that help survive and create offspring.

And evolution doesn’t work outside of survival and reproduction. How else would a species evolve? If you’re not producing offspring then you’re not going to have a species evolve.

Honestly most people who deny evolution are religious. They don’t like the idea that their deeply held religious views being questioned.

If you have a problem with Tyson here is Sagan.

Evolution has not stopped. I think humans will become extinct. From Nuclear Winter to deforestation of the rain forests. From carbon emissions destroying the ozone layer to having more plastic in the oceans than fish.

Climate change is real, so unless we evolve very fast we’re going to become extinct.

Probably the rich will live underground. I’ve seen huge structures and people working underground already.

Evolution poses no threat to religion.
Thats like saying all pro-evolution folk are anti-religion.
Stupid thing to say really, just because someone has a different view to you?

our species got dangerously close to extinction once it was so cold, idk how we managed to survive, maybe some family somewhere invented fire or something.

I don’t think the governments gonna change the rules or capitalism is gonna change or religions will shut down if we all found out tomorrow that we all came from fish frogs because humans are attracted to power in all forms and power structures fight for survival and fund each other’s pockets. That’s beside the point The reason we allow the rich to get away with things because we hope one day we might be rich like that guy so keep the door open. So things won’t change. Humans are creative, they can incorporate any philosophy into a pre-existing philosophy. It happens all of the time. My case is why care. You’ll still wake up tomorrow with the same problems.
