Do vitamins B1 and B3 work?

Hi everyone, I am on clozapine which helps me alot, I was a non-responder to the other meds, nothing worked except the clozapine. I have been experimenting with B vitamins as an add-on to the clozapine, I am currently taking B6 & B12 and those work well with no side-effects. I also tried B8 & B9 and those had a strong effect on my symptoms but they FRIED my brain, my cognition is screwed up now, I can think straight. I can’t take either ever again. This is a shame since they both helped alot with my negatives, had a strong effect. However I have heard vitamins B1 & B3 also work but I have not tried them yet, has anyone here had experience with B1 & B3? How did they work? Thanks!

B6 can be neurotoxic if you take too much.

Honestly, you probably don’t need to supplement at all if you’re eating a proper diet. That is where you should start. I have tried additional B vitamins over the years and they’ve not really touched my positive or negative symptoms. I’ve had better luck with Sarcosine, Amyloban 3399 (Lion’s Mane), and probiotics. But those are on top of improved diet and exercise.

I just found info online about vitamin B5, that is also supposed to work, has anyone here tried that?

Maybe talk to a doctor or a qualified professional?

I tried b3 (niacin) at high doses for a while. Eventually it caused problems with my stomach and it raised liver values.

I just take a B - complex every morning around 100mg and it helps with my appetite control, anxiety, and low mood.

I did this too.

It helped temporarily but it’s not a long term thing u should do.

B3 helps me a lot, but luckily I don’t need high doses to respond. I take 500mg 4 days a week. I need to take 500mg at least every other day or else symptoms flare up.

I take niacinamide since this doesen’t cause flushing and is less toxic for the liver than niacin.

The upper tolerable daily intake is 3000mg for niacinamide and 1500mg for niacin. However staying on high doses long term could damadge the liver.

B1 hasn’t done anything noticable for me.

I just tried vitamin B1 and that FRIED my brain too, thankfully after about 2 hours it has already started to wear off and my cognition is getting better, I can’t take that anymore either. That also helped with my symptoms, it is a shame that I can’t take it anymore. I also just bought a bottle of vitamin B5 but I am not sure if I will take it or not, it is supposed to help but I don’t want to fry my brain again.

I dont think vitamins can fry your brain in 1 dose. You might just be thinking its causing you problems
