Do AP's keep you awake at night?

I take my medicine at 5pm, and within an hour I’m alert and energetic. I’m tired and rundown in the mornings, but that’s after staying up until 3 or 4am and getting up at 7 to 8am. Today I took my 4mg Risperdal, 0.5mg Klonopin, and 0.4mg Flomax in the morning. I only took Lipitor and the diabetes medication at 5pm. I feel mildly tired this evening, and not bright-eyed & bushy-tailed. Does anyone else have problems with these medications keeping you awake?

Hmm. For some reason I feel better at night so I stay awake longer than I should to soak it up. This is despite experimenting with the time of day I take my ap.

My Zyprexa gives me insomnia, so I have to take it first thing in the morning. I also take 6 mg of Melatonin at bedtime to help my brain shut down when it’s supposed to.

I was expecting it to make me drowsy, so I took it at bedtime the first night and got zero sleep. Thinking that was a fluke, I took it at bedtime the next two nights and was only able to sleep by taking two Klonopins at 2 a.m. Then I started taking it around 6 a.m. and found it gives me energy throughout the day. That was very welcome after being zombified for four years on 30 mg of Haldol!

I take Abilify and typically go to bed at 11 pm and wake up at 3 am. Then I go to Wal Mart and drive around my town until the sun comes up (about 5 am). I don’t know why my sleep pattern is like this but I don’t feel tired. It might be related to living during an Alaskan summer where the sun is now up about 20 hours a day and it never really gets dark yet.

It doesn’t keep me awake, but it doesn’t necessarily make me tired, either, unless I take it with both Haldol and 1 to 2 Benadryl. Still, without it, I wouldn’t be able to sleep. I had severe insomnia for like 2 years before AP’s.
