Do APs cause bad dreams?

5th day back on Zyprexa and my dreams are really convincing and usually quite disturbing as they involve family hurting me.

Is this common? Does it go away?

Been on Zyprexa for 22 years it never cause weird dreams for me. Are you on any other meds? Because I just switched to Valium and now I’m having vivid dreams and nightmares.

For me, schizophrenia can cause bad dreams. I’m only taking quetiapine for the night, and my schizophrenia has shown me it can control/produce the dreams even before taking that ap.

strange involved riddles. I’m sure it’s fodder for mass media.

I’ve been on 10 mg Zyprexa for 4 months, I have lots of dreams and most of them are unpleasant. I just put up with it… they are dreams about failing in school or being late, nothing too scary I suppose.

I take invega. My dreams are realistic and usually interesting.

when i was on zyprexa i lucid dreamed just about every night, it was cool except for that most of the dreams would end in sleep paralysis, i never really had nightmares tho. now on invega i have ok dreams, sometimes cool but never get completely lucid anymore and i have had some nightmare but not as often now as they were at first

Yes i had that too. For me it was mostly in the first week. I have nightmares anyway, but starting zyprexa made this much worse. It got better.

yes its possible…They might just generally make you feel anguish and maybe its reflecting in dreams

Seroquel gave me realistic and horrific nightmares. I eventually came off it.

I’m now on abilify but if I don’t take it at more or less the same time everyday then I get vivid dreams.

8 years on zyprexa, nightmares all the time cause I would randomly fall asleep anytime. Ambien if I wasn’t doing crazy ■■■■, was nightmares. I’ve resigned to nightmares no matter what. Although being just the xanax and nothing else now, I can wake up out of them, just takes a few minutes to realize I’m up.

I started writing my nightmares down in high school as stories and anonymously turned them into the school paper as creative writing, helped actually. The next weekend’s paper would have “reviews” from fellow students, the AP psychology kids loved them as discussion on Monday classes, I kept quiet. But to hear what the possible meanings behind things written were, when you know you’re the one experiencing this stuff, kinda makes you internally laugh. Now this was early 2000’s, so ■■■■ like that wouldn’t be published anymore cause of different culture, but I wish I still had all of those boxes of handwritten notes and stories. When I moved out my mom just threw away all my writing and artworks cause they were sealed shut and she figured it was cause I didn’t want them.

My dreams are so real since I started taking antipsychotics. Sometimes I think about something and I don’t know if it has really happened or it was a dream.

I found on olanzapine if you drink too much caffeine I get vivid dreams…not like nightmares tho. 5 days in isn’t much time.

Yeah , I get some bad dreams sometimes… I think its because the meds put me at sexual disposition… Argh !
