Right now I receive benefits and I don’t work, but I am going to apply for dissability soon.
I’m on disability and probably will be until I die or some administration dissolves the social welfare system entirely and I go homeless then die.
I have more than SZA disabling me and I won my case pretty easily back in 2015 because they know the employment prospects of autistic people generally which are pretty abysmal. I have to do redetermination every 6 months now because our government is cracking down as hard as possible on people who they don’t think need benefits.
What benefits did you manage to get and what was your total income for the month? I’m looking to claim as much as I can, whilst still working full time. Thanks
Isn’t that is for a limited time? I was on work insurance for 2 yrs but it ended in October. Now I need to apply for disability or unemployment. Unemployment pays double the disability but still less than work insurance/sick leave.
I have both ssi and ssdi… it sucks…, but better than nothing.
You can still work part time while on ssdi. So you don’t have to worry about losing human interaction.
Plus there is a chance that the SSA may not approve you.
You should start your application process even if your ambivalent… it takes a lot of time to even get an appointment with them because of the pandemic. It takes a while bottomline.
Plus even the SSA website encourages people to apply as soon as you think you need SSDI.
I’ve been on disability for almost three years I haven’t gotten weirder just spend a lot of time around family
I’m on disability and work part time so I voted for that. But I am in Canada so it’s not called SSI or SSDI, I’m in Ontario and mine is called ODSP.
Can you do both? Maybe apply for disability and get a different part time job. I’ve read some of your posts, maybe your current job isn’t the right one for you.
If you visit indeed.com and sign up they have a form you fill out and they’ll create a resume, they make it look professional, they also give you the option to download it and print it out, or you can also send it to employers on the website for jobs you think you can do, That is where I found my current job.
I was on disability for about 17 years before getting a real job. It was med switch that made it possible for me to feel like i could work
Well it will potentially not be as much as me as I never worked full time during that 5 year period.
I was on esa and at one point during that time also pip when I was at my worst.
i’ve been gettin SSDI for the last nine years, and working part time for the past five years. it’s a struggle to work two days a week, but i suppose it’s good for me to push my boundaries as just one day a week would be too relaxed for me.
I shouldnt say as I get accused of bragging.
Sometimes when im working like a dog i dream of going back on disability moving to some small town where the rent is cheap and doing f all. Thats my actual dream doing f all.
I’m a full time student. Also I’m really broke lol
You forgot some people are on SSI and SSDI
I don’t think it ends, I’ve been on it for 20 years. My friend’s Insurance ends at 65, but I think mine continues
I’m crazier than anyone but I can still act, function, and behave completely normal
I’m on disabilaty benefits. Will partly come off in January as starting work.
Look into jobs where interaction is minimal. I’m assigned to an account executive who is customer facing and does most of the selling of insurance. He’s an absolute nightmare with paperwork and standards compliance, so that’s what I’m there for. 95% of my interaction is through email. The only real stress right now is that we’re understaffed so I don’t feel like I’m doing my job to the standard I’d like to. Have to race through things to get them done so I’m not falling behind.
Is there any way you can take time off work @Schztuna ? Maybe a break from the rat race is all you need right now. Do you currently have a therapist to talk to?
I said other. I was on SSDI but went back to work in 2019. They turned my SSDI off permanently on Oct 15th but I am still in my 36 months of extended eligibility until April and in the appeal window for it being turned off.
Up until last week I was working full time. I got let go last Friday. Don’t really know why and didn’t even get a warning.
I mailed Social Security my termination letter and am trying to get my SSDI turned back on. I have an appointment on the telephone January 27th. The office is closed but for appointments due to Covid.
