Hey. I am scheduled for an exam with a Psy.D to determine if I am eligible for social security disability. Has anyone every had to go to one of these? I am nervous about it. Part of me wants disability. Part of me wants to be able to go back to work.

Well im in Lithuania and we have examination by a committee, its quite easy- first part usually goes what medication you take and how much, then physical capability questionnaire and then mental health. I would suggest taking the money. You dont know where will you need it
I don’t know where money will get me here in the US. I doubt they take bribes

The advice I see on here a lot is, answer every question as though it’s your worst day ever. If you can sometimes drive, but not on bad days, then you say you have difficulty with driving. If you periodically have trouble sleeping, you say you have trouble sleeping. If you have pain that comes and goes, rate it at the worst it gets. Don’t lie, but present the truth in a way that works to your advantage.

I should probably start making a list. I wrote down a little of how it makes me feel and what it does to me. Hopefully I can just bring what I wrote and give him that. I just hope I get it. I don’t think I can work anymore.

If you have had trouble keeping jobs in the past I would mention that.
If you are in the LA area I recommend bill la tour. Hes both a psychologist and lawyer. He got me approve when I was denied in the past. His office or team set up disability exam and all. If you dont have BillLaTour in your area then try to find a similar lawyer with psychology experience. Just be honest and yourself at exam. Good luck!

I was lazy and did stupid stuff. Just did less than bare minimum. Had to redo it and it was a huge hassle.
Talked solely about my paranoid delusions and just got a measly 3 year review.
It sucks because I was having issues filling it out. First try I was in social security office and just rushed it.
Mine was a medical review.
I wasn’t trying to sell myself. I was honest.
They told my parents to fill it out when I was in the hospital. It’s been almost 6 months since my initial application and now they want me to go into the city to get examined by some psych doctor. I’m nervous. I just need the social security and it’s gonna suck if I don’t get it

Here in Spain you have to have worked 5 years to collect a disability, I have 3 years left to get a good pension

I found the disability process easy in the U.K. I have a long history and intellectual disabilities and mental illness. Only ever been to one review and when arrived told that it was a mistake I got called. I get the highest awards which is lot of money here.
I still don’t think it’s worth it collecting all this money for this mental illness. I had dreams, not big dreams but I wanted to be a bus/coach driver when a teenager. It certainly isn’t worth having to be injected against my will every month
