There are different levels of how one may cope with every day life at different points in time.
Different levels of functioning etc
Lots of people who live by them selves buy ready made meals and just heat in microwave.
Other people make from scratch and freeze in portions. Such as lasange, bolognese, casseroles, soups , risotto, dolma , etc
I made Minestrone soup the other day and still have few portions left.
Baking can also be nice and one may then have something to go with afternoon tea or morning coffee break…
Maybe you have partner and/or family to cook for.
I love cooking for some one but cooking just for my self does not feel as fun and I do not put as much money, time and effort in to it then.
Do you do your own cooking?
Some of you may live with others you cook together with or take turns in cooking.
Are there foods you prefer making and usually eat every week?
i live on my own and do my own cooking, i enjoy doing it and trying out new recipes.
i do a good curry, that i got from the web and tinkered with a little to my own liking. also a nice ‘mexican rice’ dish that i got from a book. i’m a fan of hot spicy food.
At the moment I’m just bored or just can’t be bothered making something because the family have abandoned me and I live on my own so its stuff I’d nevervreally eat like those big night in meals from tesco cos there’s a starter n main so I have the starter asxa supper dish and the main as a dinner dish xxx
Sometimes I fancy having potato wedges as early as 8 am lol watching breakfast telly or listening to radio xx
I cook for myself and my husband. At the moment i have caramel ice-cream and green tea ice-cream in the freezer, soup, and a portion of a lamb slow cooker meal. I made a banana loaf yesterday and a few of those little chocolate corn flakes things.
Newly i’m feeding both of us veg soup 1 - 2 times a day… it’s the one thing we both like that is a veg… i used to like veg but not any more with him being so picky. I do need to sometimes grab spinach i think but i can also put that in soup… it’s fabulous with soy sauce and toasted sesame oil.
I’ve given up sugar so it’s nice to be able to bake and be around sweet nice looking things. I’m learning a lot at the moment like what went wrong with the caramel swirl in the ice-cream or the soggy bottom of the cheesecake I’m making compote tomorrow, which i always have on the go for natural yoghurt
When i was veggie i cooked LOADS of veg and lentil and bean curries or stuff like seaweed thrown in stuff.
I made a hell of a lot of stuff just for me at first and for my then partner
I’d travel with a huge basket full of spices
I think I could do with more people to cook of, my poor husband
I have shakes 2 meals a day, and snack only on veg soup or a little fruit in between and one good meal
(cheese late evening)
For breakfast I take cereal by myself. For lunch I’ll make a sandwich by myself or get me a take away… For dinner my sister or niece that stay with me will cook for me something nice. On weekends I normally do bbq for all of us.
