Dilemma over pet birds

I thought this earlier

“Why are my birds forced to confine in a cage for their entire lives??? Like I almost wanna let them go, but I know they wouldn’t survive. If it were up to me, I’d say ■■■■ PETCO and their enslavement of birds. I’m rescuing 2 of them to give them a better life. I treat them well and they’re in a bigger cage now with more space. but damn”

then I thought to myself “what if i no one bought their birds, maybe they wouldn’t ENSLAVE any of them…and I’m just contributing to the capturing of birds”

what to think now

■■■■

I now have this thing called “human guilt”…it’s like white guilt but for humans…

so now i gotta give my birds treats every day and make sure their waters are real clean

are these your birds?

just take it easy. small birds would get captured and eaten by other predators or what not… if you keep them safe and healthy, it’s pretty good… I might get a bird too soon.

I like your bird’s names.

My Grandma has a bird, blueboy I think it is called. She lets it out of it’s cage and it flies free in the sunroom of her house.

I have a turtle too but it’s like 15 years old and seems like its about to die…i thought it was dead today but then i poked it and it started showing off for me

One of my sisters used to give me a hard time about my parakeet. She would say, “well, I guess he seems happy…for a caged bird”. He was totally happy. Not only was he never wild, and in fact bred for many generations to be a pet, but he was spoiled rotten (as he should have been). Birds caught from the wild are sad, no doubt, but birds from Petsmart/Petco, etc, are being rescued when you bring them home. Give them as big a cage as you can, good food and clean waster, toys, love, and they’re happy. I’ve only had Zebra Finches and Parakeets, but I would love to have another parrot. You sound like a wonderful keeper for your birds. You should be proud to be one of the good humans who cares for your pets.
