I’ve never felt comfortable with the idea of keeping animals in cages, I don’t even like zoos much. I know they do important work in animal conservation, but the idea of a wild animal kept in a small enclosure upsets me. I’d love to go on a safari and see the animals in their natural habitat.
I feel it’s incredibly sad to see animals such as lions and tigers in cages
@shellys12 still better than seeing them wandering in the streets.
True they would have no mercy
I don’t keep caged pets, because I would feel very guilty about them not being able to roam as they please.
I’m not too fond of zoos, but the ones we have here have strict rules ensuring the animals have large enough enclosures, so I feel better knowing they’re able to have a little run if they need to lose some energy.
I’m cellmates with my cat, we both stay in the house mostly. We’re both animals, so I guess i think it’s okay to keep some animals in cages.
I was told a cage can be good for a dog if you train them they can feel secure and safe there on occasions.
I love the idea of free chickens but some chickens may prefer a spacious and good cage.
As a ethical vegan I was against it but now I think it’s possible for them to have s good life in cage.
I am no longer vegan but I love animals and care for their wellbeing.
A friend of mine kept her two youngest dogs in cages.
They live indoors but out doors it was dangerous for them till they were trained.
Animal rescue uses cages.
The animals could still have happy healthy lives.
It depends how where when etc
Animals can be taken care of very well in cage and be happy but a free animal might not be happy or protected …
I am not sure I think it’s always a bad thing it could be good and if you talk to the animals maybe some of them would choose a cage even…,
Important they get good food and drink and shade and care and Love and happiness.
Do t want en depressed n tortured…,
They might have greAt loving positive energy in their cages so they are happy while free snimLs night ha e horrid energy n stuff going on …
I do not think it is always a bad thing.
But I still like the animals to be respected and cared for slaughter palliative are etc
I am not sure how my stand is but I do wish animals to be treated well etc
The. again there was a suicidal at sea world who kept hitting his head against the wall trying to kill self.
But they do good work there too.
Save lives etc
I swam with dolphins when I was psychotic.
It was aweful for me and I truly suffered.
I love sharks but… it was as if I swam with sharks and dark deep energies and not dolphins s .
My sister looked perfect on the dolphin picture and I looked ugly fat and miserable .
I have had spiritual experience with crocks sharks etc and art but I would not want to be eaten or attacked by them.
On the one hand, it is cruel to keep animals in cages, but on the other hand, zoo’s keep these animals safe from people like poachers and hunters in many cases. So, for me, it’s a toss up.
All these are valid points but the real human animals who hurt others should be kept in a cage.
Yeah, their internal worlds are much simpler than ours. So being in a spacious cage or enclosure is not torture to most animals. Certain species need more space, however, like ferrets for example. For such animals cages may be a difficult thing.
The other issue is releasing animals into the wild. They are not necessarily happy out there as some would assume. When animals have to fend for themselves they live short, harsh lives and no one is there to help them when they get diseases or are starving. So many things can and do go wrong in the wild.
So there are two sides to the issue. We need to keep animals in enclosures to make sure they are clean, safe and manageable. If animals were like people and had better communication abilities maybe this would not be necessary. But they don’t, but of course the situation is different for each individual animal.
With my rats I give them the biggest cage with lots of space. Also with rats they are supposed to free run out of there cage for a few hours a day. Usually I just rat proof a room and give them toys and let them play around.
I even have a leash and harness to give them walks but I haven’t been able to put it on them yet, they’re so squirmy and I don’t want to force them to wear it.
They also have a ball they can go in and run around the house. the more running around they do the better. Nobody likes being stuck in a cage for too long.
My rabbits have a cage for their own safety. When I’m home I leave it open for them to roam around and explore freely. But rabbits chew a lot and I have electrical chords for my stuff. It would be devastating if I left and came back and they hurt themselves from chewing something they shouldn’t. The cage also acts as their safe space. When I’m home they can be free but if they want to have their safe space then its a great way for them to feel secure. I use a big dog cage so they get plenty of space. I love my bunnies very much and want to protect them as much as i can but i still give them the freedom to hop around when I’m home. And they do lots of hops
Some animals its ok for most of the time. like a hamster… finch…some its ok for part bunnies various weasels…some its no good for at all… narwhals…apparently…ive never seen a narwhal in captivity…
Zoo animals in the really nice places… i guess thats ok…china’s panda birthing/panda training facility seems legit towards the good… zoo animals at an individuals house who doesnt have enough room… that ones questionable…
