I have a hard time with Religion and going to Church and listening to a priest preach and tell me what is right and wrong.
Hypocrisy runs rampant among the Holier than thou types -
I mean we are all human, and no one group or religion is better than another.
My grandiose spiritual delusions is not compatible with Religion and Religious ideas.
I mean I consider myself Spiritual to a degree - but even being too spiritual has risks for me - I can easily become grandiose and delusional if I am not careful
if you look at the amount of suffering in the world
Financial suffering - 85% of the population of humans live on less than 2$ a day.
About 1% of the population control 50% of the total wealth.
Emotional suffering - A huge percentage of the human population is unloved . Very few of them are lucky to have had good family and spouses.
Injustice - Neednt comment on this more. Its common knowledge that Bad people are successful both in career and in personal life while good people bear the brunt of torture both professionally and personally.
Considering all this I have a few basic questions:-
Where is god to correct all the above 3 in THIS LIFE?. Why do we have to die before hoping to get any justice?
Join the Atheist group, we have cookies and rough sex. Wait nevermind that, we have those things but might not share them.
And we’re mostly social drinkers.
And we are all decent looking, no ugly people are allowed.
And we are smarter than believers, on average.
We are all rational and reasonable.
We love dogs.
We like to use logic to ruin stupid people’s dumb, fat and happy days, because we can.
Atheism is not a religion, religion is the belief in something without proof. The fact that people anthropomorphize causality makes me laugh, and I’ve been laughing at that since I was a kid. If you anthropomorphize a nation in an essay, you get dropped a letter grade and a good teacher will rant at you about it. I want to see the same go for thinking that time and space must be made by someone like us, a God, a super human-like entity. Simple logic, like logic 101 puts the burden of proof on belief statements. Pastafarians.
Hail football. Foobawl. Doritos and mountain new and black and ethnic minorities getting injured in a stadium. Here I am jerkin in my room, I think it’s a better choice.
I’m an atheist and there’s no turning back. People like me are scarce. My outlook on life is deplorable but REAL. There are 4200 known religions in this world, who is to say which is the right one? I’m not relying on books of fair tales or the scary fact that “god” maybe reading my mind. I’ve dealt with that already. The last time I tried to believe in god I got an anxiety disorder. Schizophrenia was already the last nail in the coffin. I understand your position in this life, and I proudly greet you. You’re not stupid.
Thanks guys, typically I just try not think about it. Beliefs are pretty irrelevant if your an atheist. Just kind of loomed up on me last night. Glad to know at least I’m not alone. I need to learn to relax, my SZ won’t get any worse if I’m not freaking out about it.
Richard Feynman was talkin about religion and science.
Take to science with the mindset that everything is false and science will prove itself to be right. Take to religion with the same mindset and everything falls apart.
Pretty good observation if you ask me.
I’m glad I don’t have a very religious family. My grand parents and a few aunts and uncles are completely religious, but ask far as my immediate family members they all tend to a more open minded perspective.
My mother was pondering what it would be like for me if she was as religious as her mother. Sz and its treatment would be entirely different, which would suck, because I really feel I have taken to the best approach in treating it.
Glad to have all of you to chat with. I probably spend more time here then I do conversing in real life.
If it makes you relax and calm, there is nothing wrong in conversing here. After all, they are real people too living in different cities, countries, cultures and with different perspectives. Nothing to be ashamed of. From a perspective, you are lucky that you have a chance to talk to people from so many different backgrounds. While living in a small city or town, you just know the people who act same and think same. No growth and personal development! Cheer-up buddy.
I guess your family is doing right by having religion’s good things in them. Seriously Bryan, a moderate approach is always necessary. Your mum did right by not treating your illness with the spiritual means. That are sometimes very disturbing. Have faith but don’t let others tell you what’s right and what’s wrong when your instincts are telling you the opposite.
Thanks p2r. For me it’s more a battle of respecting people then being moderate. I feels it’s paramount to see past people’s beliefs and treat them the same. I still respect the members of my family that are religious, they are largely successful, intelligent, and friendly. That said I’m glad my immediate family fall on my side of the fence.
Yeah I don’t feel to bad about my social life being on the Internet. I still have real life people to hang out with, they are all neurotypicals. Conversing with them is often hilarious but mundane, they live a simpler life. More active then mine but they are simpler people. I feel an awkward disconnect every day.
I’ll try and cheer up man. It’s good advice you gave me.
It happens Bryan. More we absorb the realities and truth of life, more we become isolated. Be with them and don’t be disheartened if they don’t agree with you at any point. Make new and authentic friends. Whom you can trust on. The people who seem simpler from outside are often complex from inside. The people who look complicated from outside are often calm but deep from inside. They have more space to embrace new thoughts and people in their life.
Do you have any social club around you where people gather just to chat and make new connections?Maybe find such a club. Just visit the place. See people, listen to them and find what they are dealing with. How they resolve their issues and eliminate their isolation. If you have a facebook account, search for any such group in your area or just search it in Google. You will find groups like Gathering for Coffee, Men’s group, People interested in walking or just catching up. It can be a little difficult first time when gathering courage to visit such a place but it is a nice experience Bryan. You meet some nice people who are in the same boat. Maybe, have some companion with you for first few times when you want to visit such a group.
There is nothing wrong in feeling the awkward disconnect which you are going through now. We all feel such a strange feeling at many points in our life for many reasons. Life goes on, don’t stop yourself at one point. Smile and walk on! Wish you best of luck and keep posting your supportive posts and thoughtful topics.
You know how i know? I’ve seen proof. Somebody actually made this horrible place. It’s as evil as it gets to, i mean it’s really really bad to, and someone forced us into this.
Our lord, unwillingly my lord, the maker of evil things. How are these beings not evil? Is it even possible? Doesn’t look like it.
It all came from them, every little dimension, all beings, they are the source and live in the source of it all.
Now as far as atheism being ‘rational’ and intelligent and all that, it really isn’t.
It cannot explain creation, which no matter how much science comes up with theories that sound good cannot pinpoint an origin of where matter and energy came from or how everything came to be…except for those scientists who are left little choice but to view the mathematics involved and the odds of random chance being like 0, and conclude INTELLIGENT DESIGN.
Physics was mentioned…physics, at least Quantum physics answer many questions about God and spirit.
You do know that many places mentioned in the Bible, and events that it records happened were once considered myths with no evidence, but more and more there are archaeological discoveries that prove over and over again these events did happen and the places mentioned did exist.
Rationality in the strictly human sense denies faith which is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. Yet faith is what is our conduit to the miraculous, and if you have ever seen supernatural things happen not explainable by science, then you know something is at work, some invisible force, and a force that has intelligence.
This is just a little bit to explain, but there is much much more
Intelligent Design:
Furthermore for those who completely disbelieve the existence of God, isn’t there always the nagging question somewhere in your mind, WHAT IF?
