Decided to look at walmart

They were almost out of winter jackets. Crossing my fingers I will find one at thrift store. I will suck it up without one if they don’t have any. Winter really bites

When we were driving to Michigan last week, we got to Kentucky and it was snowing. My mom realized in all the stuff she packed she forgot to pack her coat. Luckily there was a Walmart right down the street so she went there and got a coat for like twenty bucks.

Good luck in your hunt for a jacket @FatMama.

My daughter refused to wear coats in wintertime. She always wore hoodies with a jacket on top. Of course we don’t get the cold here that Canada gets.

-30°c and i can’t get my kids to wear jackets. Just hoodies. I always buy junky jackets to throw in the trunk in case of an emergency.

That’s a great idea. Yeah. It didn’t matter how cold it was. My daughter only wore hoodies. Well, she’s 21 now and still ok.

Are you sure you want to do that in Canada? I hear that place gets mighty cold. You might be in danger of hypothermia.

I rarely venture out far. I have a warm fleece jacket which is good to -10°c but when it hits colder temps it is not good enough

When my daughter was a baby I lived in a trailer that you had to buy fuel for to heat your house. Well it was like 19F and I didn’t have the money for fuel. I sent my daughter to the babysitter and I just bundled up until I could afford it. I didn’t die.

There is that little word “yet”, that you might qualify that statement with. I wouldn’t play with the winter weather where you live.

I had plenty of blankets and a winter coat. Also I had a sweater too. I’m not advocating for people to rough it on purpose. I’m just saying that’s what happened to me.

I’m thankful we have electric heat.

Back then if I’d had electric heat I probably wouldn’t had been able to pay the bill. I worked at a fast food restaurant at the time.

Where I live it is against the law for the hydro of a house to be cut off even if it’s not paid. It’s impossible to survive without heat. But in summer they can cut hydro off.

@FatMama. That’s a good law. I’m sure some people abuse it. I was a single mother working 2 jobs. My daughter was only 2 years old when that happened (when we ran out of heat). My daughter’s babysitter’s were a surrogate family to me. They didn’t charge me extra for keeping her overnight. I was only without heat for like a day.

It’s so good that you had a friend to help you with your daughter. We really find out who are people we can depend on when we need help. And good on you being a mom that obviously cares deeply.
