Day 8 smoke-free

Haven’t posted about this in a few days, didn’t want y’all thinking I gave in and went back to smoking. I’ve gotten used to not having a cigarette in my hand, so I suppose that’s part of the battle won. I figure I’ll be on the gum for a couple months before I break free from nicotine. I typically use 7 or 8 pieces/day.

A couple days ago I got a box of gum on clearance; the drug store down the street is getting rid of their line of nic gum, so it was 75% off. Under $15 out the door for a box of 160 pieces, pretty sweet.

I used to smoke four packs a day. Now I’m free of nicotine for greater than two and a half years. My gal says she doesn’t like the changes in me. She says I’m angry all the time, for example.

I sure have saved a lot of money by not smoking.

I have not smoked tobacco in the past eight months. Sometimes I have nic gum.

That is what they said about my mother when she kicked the habit. She got angrier. She returned to smoking because of it.

Did you see the post on the possibility that nicotine is good for helping cognitive deficits in sz?

I am considering starting vaping after kicking the habit 13 years ago…

I am in the process of stopping the use of nicotine gum. Sometimes the addiction is just too much, like now, I really would like to have nic gum, but I know I should not.

but if nicotine is good for you (not cigarette form) then I don’t see the urgency to give up nicotine. If you take an ap for sz then what is the difference between taking nicotine as an add on to help fight the symptoms of sz?

I have noticed that this nicotine affects the joints of my fingers and muscles and I do not like it, this is one reason to give it up.
