Chocolate has lots of calories. Does cocoa powder have less calories? The thing is that dark chocolate and cocoa powder gives me diarrhea. I love them otherwise, especially açai and blueberries coated with dark chocolate. I still have those, good antioxidants.

Hi @Aziz. If you are worried with sugars and calories maybe you could try dark chocolate with stevia, I am not exactly sure about this.

Hi @Leaf, things sometimes are not too linear, for example a Psychiatrist in the past told me not to eat chocolate while taking Abilify. Some situations are different. I have been taking Paliperidone (Trevicta) and felt good since a few days ago eating dark chocolate.

I would be careful when trying dark chocolate, I have eaten too much and gave me some headache and seizure. Quantity is important. Perhaps I have eaten a lot, 125g, the mood improved quickly in about 20 minutes (I was depressed and now I am not), but after a few hours I had a headache while driving.

Also don’t have it or cocoa powder at night. It has more caffeine than regular chocolate. I can’t sleep when I drink cocoa powder at night.

Can you buy it on Amazon?

My profound sleep seems a little bit affected with dark chocolate.

Dark chocolate is good, I try to buy minimum 70% cocoa to get down the sugar they put in it. I too may get headaches if I eat too much at the same time. Good for mood though.

Hi @Mr_Hope, I have eaten 125g of dark chocolate, mood improved a lot, but now I have headache, it was about four hours ago. 70% cocoa. I am afraid something goes wrong.

There is a book I read called Limitless by Jim Kwik and it’s basically how to keep your brain healthy what you can do to keep it functioning good. He mentioned some of the foods to eat which are brain healthy and dark chocolate was one of the foods he mentioned. Since then I’ve been eating 85% dark chocolate from Aldi. I eat a little bit before going to bed with warm almond milk. I don’t know if it is helping but I thought I include that into my routine.

Dark chocolate has caffeine in it. Caffeine is bad.

And added sugar.

And it is too refined for me.

Yeah, that might be a little too much. Maybe you should try cutting down to half of that, or spread it more throughout the day? Perhaps a different brand is better? They may contain different preservatives and other ingredients. Experiment and see what works for you.

My experience with chocolate yesterday went not so well, 125g is too much! I felt really bad with seizures and vomited the chocolate and the meal. Be cautious with the intake of dark chocolate! My mood was very good and I was driving a little fast, I came home and started vomiting…

For me few cubes of dark chocolate (maximum 9) worked well, more than that made me feel sick.

According to Wikipedia: “A one-tablespoon (5 grams) serving of dry unsweetened cocoa powder has 12.1 mg of caffeine and a 25-g single serving of dark chocolate has 22.4 mg of caffeine Although a single 7 oz. serving of coffee may contain 80–175 mg, studies have shown psychoactive effects in caffeine doses as low as 9 mg and a dose as low as 12.5 mg was shown to have effects on cognitive performance.”
