Dandelion tea

I clean and dry dandelion blooms and make tea by boiling the blooms (15 minutes). Really good stuff. yummy

The tea is good. It’s that time of year here in the states. Dandelions are growing now.

Yeah. They’re just starting here too. Only seen a few blossoms but lots of leaves. The leaves are very bitter if not used early.

Do you boil the leaves as well as the flower?

I can’t say what I make from dandelions. :joy:

If you want to eat the leaves as a green vegetable yes you boil the leaves but the bigger the leaves are the more bitter they taste. You have to make sure to harvest the leaves early in the year. Big long leaves are just plain yucky :face_vomiting:

@anon4362788 Ive heard dandelion root tea is really good but those roots are very hard to dig up and I’ve never been successful at it. Course I didn’t have a spade to dig with. I tried to use a spoon.

You can roast the roots and grind it to make a drink like coffee.

Don’t start nothing crazy you goofball!

@Loke The first time I went to a restaurant in Buffalo with hubby, I ordered a steak and dandelion green sandwich. When it came the leaves were huge and so bitter. Just nasty.

Yep. They’re nasty. If you pick them when they’re first sprouting not so bad.
