Crippling Anxiety

Anyone have some helpful tips for crippling anxiety?
I am so disfunctional and behind on things this week, because half the time I can’t even breathe or feel my limbs.
I haven’t been sleeping much either, due to panic, nightmares, etc. I have been taking lots of naps, though.
I am a naturalist and usually not one to take meds, especially since every time I try to go to the hospital with panic attacks they tell me “It’s just a panic attack”, and send me home. As if I didn’t know that, already…
Also, Melatonin has been inducing panic at night, so I stopped taking it.
Has anyone had good result taking Valerian Root or St. John’s Wart?

Take a deep breath. Close your eyes for a moment.

Open them and look around you. Take note of where you are. Tell yourself about it. Say, I’m in my room. I’m sitting on my bed. My feet are on the floor. I’m looking at my desk. That is my computer. That is my pillow.

Etc, etc - just take time to describe your surroundings to yourself, what you see, hear, smell, feel.

After you’re settled into your surroundings, look for one thing that you would like to change. Clothes on the floor? Spots on the bathroom mirror? Dishes that need to be done?

Just pick one thing, and do it for 15 minutes. Tell yourself that’s all you’re committing to, and after 15 minutes you’ll decide if you want to keep doing it, do something else, or stop doing things. Any one of those answers is fine.

Baby steps. Good advice, thank you!
I have been doing a lot of meditating lately, maybe I can do this and meditate in between tasks.

If you are a Naturalist you might want to look into trying Theanine.

It’s a compound also found in Green Tea.

Yes! I get overwhelmed by all the things I think I should be doing, and so I don’t do any of them. I get wrapped up in miserable thought patterns, so I had to learn to reorient myself in my actual physical surroundings. Then take one step at a time.

Make sure to take a moment to appreciate what you’ve done, too. If you clean the mirror, for example, make sure to let yourself notice how much nicer it looks.

Green tea has caffeine, though. I’ll have to maybe try try organic decaffeinated tea…

The caffeine in Green tea is not as potent as coffee but you can certainly try it you’re way.

Will do. Soon as I can get some $$.
