Creating a website

Hello to all of you. I know this is a site about sz, but I’m without ideas here.

I’m a writer and when I was delusional I thought people all over the world were reading my work. Now I’m actually trying to make my work read all over the world, so…

I’m trying to make a living out of this, of writing fantasy and science fiction, and I was thinking about creating my own website to earn a place in this business.

I want to ask two questions:

  1. What kind of content do you think I could make in my website?

  2. Have you ever had a website? If so, could you guide to make my own?

Thank you very much

I don’t have any advice, but my favorite author, David Wong, got his start the exact same way. He just had a blog, and he would post a bunch of stories on it. Eventually, someone liked them enough to offer him a book deal. Now, he has three best-selling books and a contract for several more! They even turned one of his books into a movie, and they’re working on a TV series for another.

I have a website, but it is way different from what you are doing. Wix is a free site you could try out, they have templates and stuff to help you.

What I do is look at other peoples web sites that do the same as me, that starts you thinking in what you want yours to look like.

wix is here

Thank you. That’s exactly what I’m trying to with a blog. It’s just that I’m a little lost

Thank you. I appreciate it. I don’t know which site to use, may I ask you for advise about how to use Wix?

I suggested wix cause it is fairly easy to use, but I myself have never used it, My site is with a company I have been using for years and and I pay for it, also have kinda grown with them over the years. Wix and other popular sites were not around back when I started.

You can also try the grid, it’s the first AI that can build websites. Basically you put in your content and it designs it for you fully, adjusting the design as you add more content. It costs, but it’s reasonable. Or you could hire a web designer like myself, a small site would cost a few hundred dollars.

I would recommend using Wordpress. There are tutorials for how to start the site and maintain it on YouTube. It started as a blogging site. What I like about it is there is security software to add for free to protect your site. Actually there is a ton of free plugins you can use to add functionality. There are also a ton of free templates to pick from. The only things you have to pay for are a hosting site and the domain name. Good luck! Feel free to ask me any questions. I worked as a developer for a while. :sunny:
