Craving carbs but diabetic, ideas?

I’ve been throwing up for days again. I’m craving carbs, big time. I know I’m dehydrated. I am drinking a frozen coke. I’ve found that soothes the gastroparesis and GERD and rehydrates me. I’m craving bread and meat. I’m going to call my gi doc tomorrow.

Does anyone have a history like this? I’m feeling a little unsure about what to do. I’m diabetic.

I hope this is as clear as mud lol. Thanks so much.

How’s your blood sugar? Drinking a Coke doesn’t seem like the best solution. Though I’m glad it’s helping ease your pain.

Do you like rice? I made this totally bomb Mexican cauliflower rice for dinner and it’s :drooling_face::drooling_face::drooling_face::drooling_face:.

Eating more carbs makes you crave for more carbs… I think that is the unchanging rule…I recommend you to drink sparkling water instead of coke…I’m on a keto diet and it suppressed my appetitite enormously. I recommend you to decrease eating less carbs, especially sugary water, and consme coconut or olive oil to suppress your appetite…Apple cider vinegar with water is good for GERD and it balances your ph levels in your body. I hope this little advice helps.

My blood sugar was 48. I’m going to have to eat a small meal to stabilize my blood sugar. The dish you mentioned sounds good, but I’m not allowed to have fiber. I love cauliflower anything. However, I’m not allowed to have it.

I saw a nutritionist, but living with this crazy diet isn’t doable, at times. Thanks so much for the ideas. How are you feeling?

I’m about the same as always. Hopefully you can find something to eat that cooperates with your diabetes.

With the gastroperesis and gerd, have you tried blanching/peeling all your prodouce? I once lived with a woman who had that, and removing the skin from her veggies helped her digest them. She wasn’t diabetic, though.

hey trish hope youre feeling okay. For carbs id recommend flatbread because its lower GI. Corn tortillas maybe? You can also do something like buckwheat “porridge” which i found is really good. Its like steel cut oats kinda, microwave it for 3 minutes with equal parts water and it keeps its form quite well. also a quinoa salad is nice. If you eat pasta (which we both know is probably not THE greatest) what you can do if put it in the oven for a while after boiling it and it will dehydrate it a bit and i think lower the GI somewhat ( GL will ofcourse be the same though)

My mom’s diabetic and she swears by the keto diet.

It really helps with her blood sugar and hunger.

Kevon,
Great ideas. I made a chicken breast and had a piece of low fat cheese and 1 piece of bread. It was tasty, and stayed down.

Yaaaaaaaay! And, thanks!

Dreman,
I don’t know much about the keto diet. I’ll check that out. Thanks sooooooooo much!

Frozen coke has a pH of 2.4. You need to drink and eat more alkaline foods to stop the GERD. Have to stop the habitual cokes.

Alkaline water is very hydrating too, much more so than regular water. Great for diabetics .
