Could anxiety be our bodies biological way of staying away from life threatening events? Like all these shootings being reported is information we take in and then our body reacts to that by raising our anxiety. To keep us from harm? I mean being anxious in large crowds must have it’s purpose.
Anxiety is pretty much the bodies sympathetic nervous system reacting to stressful and potentially harmful events.
Everyone has anxiety, except for very rare conditions.
Anxiety becomes a disorder when our fight or flight response is activated in situations where it shouldn’t be.
Everyone has anxiety when they are driving in bad weather, or walking down a dark alley in a bad part of a city at night, I have anxiety walking down the side walk in perfect weather in a very safe neighborhood. In the first two situations the anxiety is good, it helps keep you alive, in the other situation the anxiety is not appropriate or helpful and starts to inhibit quality of life.
It dates back to caveman days. If we didnt have anxiety we wouldnt have been alive very long.
