Stress is quite bad for me. I end up falling back on old coping strategies that aren’t exactly harmful, but keep me from doing important tasks. I’ll play video games, read books or try my hand at various projects instead of taking on some of the important jobs of life. Like, getting my finances under control, making my house less of a pit, learning about stuff for my job, etc.
But if I try to take on too many of the things that life demands, I get overwhelmed easily. Over-stress led to my first relapse years and years ago, and I definitely don’t want it to happen again.
So has anyone found a way to cope that doesn’t rely on escapism or self-destruction?
