Coping strategies?

Or what activities do you do that reduce your symptoms?

I mainly read, play videogames or reach out to my care team to talk it out. So far no hospital in over a year.

The only thing that works for me is avoidance. Especially avoiding stress. It’s not always possible, but the result is I’ve almost become a hermit …

What reduces my symptoms is to moderately meet people. (and that it goes well.)
I’m obviously stressed when it occurs too many times a week, but I can’t stay alone at home more that 1 week.
That said, I generally enjoy solitude.

Word Seek magazine or taking a shower are my favorites. Just enough excitement to shake of the blahs. I do the puzzles in the kitchen where there is likely to be others in and out and I always finish my showers with an invigorating cool rinse.

I have multiple things I do to keep busy outside of work:

  • photography
  • cooking
  • reading
  • managing my online station
  • walking (very calming)
  • tai chi
  • VR exercise
  • retro gaming

I need to keep moving. If I stop I get mired in negative symptoms and it is so hard to get going again. I try not to pause for very long for this reason.

Too many coping strategies to list. Recommend getting yourself some self-help therapy workbooks. Make sure they are workbooks with exercises you can do.
