turns out most of the time he rejects his gourmet dog food…he has nothing but his back teeth so it is very smooth dog food…anyways…he really enjoys goulash, eggs, and hamburger meat…so far…we are having chicken noodle instead of chili today so Richard can have some…we don’t care that he prefers ppl food…kind of a relief…his gourmet dog food feeds him two days and it cost 1.50 a container.
The salt content in regular human food will hurt him.
If you’re going to do human food, you have to cook it specifically for him, super bland.
Then he’ll probably need to be on some sort of vitamin.
I know that’s what my vet told me.
We got the same advice for our last dog. The vet told us that it would eat the canned food when it got hungry enough.
thanks…we won’t add salt or seasoning…do it when we eat…thanks @Charles_Foster
he used to eat his dog food every day…then he started rejecting it by rubbing his nose against it saying he didn’t like it.
Let him live life given that he’s geriatric sounds like that dog is being well treated @jukebox
Post a pic!
thanks man…no photo capability but thank you.
Cooking for a pet like a dog or cat requires a lot of work and careful planning.
Dogs need special vitamins and nutrients and you are going to have to stay away from certain people foods like onions, garlic and chocolate
It’s not that easy @jukebox
I would try feeding him wet dog foods
He will eventually eat the dog food when he’s hungry.
@shutterbug is right
I d k…we will see how he does after not feeding him ppl food for a day. he will be so hungry …I hate to see that.
Plain yogurt (in small amounts) is great to add to a pets diet. The probiotics are good and I’ve never had a pet that doesn’t love it! Just make sure if you do that it has no artificial sweetener which is horrible for animals. Plain is best but i occasionally give a tsp of vanilla yogurt to my cat as a treat. It has sugar so not often.
