I am 55 and having my first colonoscopy in 2 days. I am nervous about it. Tomorrow morning, I start fasting and drinking what they call ‘prep’, that empties your colon. Wish me luck!
They put you to sleep, you won’t even feel it. Make sure you do the prep good; otherwise you’ll have to have another colonoscopy soon after the first. By soon I mean 9 months or a year.

Yeah, my doc wants me to have one done, too, but I’m going to procrastinate to the best of my ability…i don’t care if they put me to sleep, i don’t want anything going into the “outgoing” tube!
It is awkward to ponder, isn’t it? Thank God, I will be out for it. That’s not a place I want strangers peekin’!
It’s smarter to just go ahead and do it now and get it over with. After all, it’s for your own good. If something is wrong in there you want to catch it early on so you get it treated quick before it gets a lot worse. Without a colonoscopy for all you know something could be wrong in your colon right now and if something is wrong you want to know so you can treat it before it gets much worse. I’ve had two colonoscopy’s and it was perfectly safe and comfortable. They wheel you into a room on a gurney, give you anesthesia and the next thing you know you wake up in a room feeling no pain or discomfort.
My doctor was a woman and afterward she invited me out to have a couple of drinks. I told her, “I don’t even know you”. She replied,“Oh, after that, we don’t have any secrets.”
my first colonoscopy found 3 out of 5 precancerous polyps…saved my life…I do them every five years for a while now…good luck.
I did one last year. They asked if I wanted anesthetics, but we agreed they could administer it during the procedure if I felt the need for it. So ended up not having it. There was one small spell of pain, but nothing I couldn’t handle.
I get only clear liquids today. I start drinking my prep at 6pm and my procedure is at 7am. My aunt had polyps once, so I hope my procedure goes OK.
It is 4:30pm and I am soooo hungry! I just ordered food from Amazon Fresh so I can eat all day tomorrow after my procedure
They knocked me out and then told me to come back when I’m fifty. I think you’ll be if you ain’t already.
Ok why does this phone suck
It all went fine. I am done for several years! woohoo!
How old were U when U had your first colonoscopy @roxanna ?
Good luck @non-average you are doing the right thing.
29 years old. I had blood in my stool.
That’s good news!
I’m very curious what does a colonoscopy feel like do they freeze your body I just had my defibrillator battery changed it hurt a bit even with freezing
I slept through it but they woke me up at the very end and I felt pressure from the air they pump into your colon. It was tolerable but unpleasant.
