Cognitive and negative symptoms

Has anyone managed to improve there cognition or negative symptoms? Im losing hope that these symptoms are lifelong with no upcoming meds. Is there anyone who improved these symptoms. Can we retrain our brain to improve cognition or is it pointless? Can disorganized thinking be improved as this is my worst symptom atm

I have improved my cognition over the years. Part of it was pushing myself mentally and part of it was going to the lowest possible dose of head meds. My negs have mostly been unchanged, but therapy has helped me cope with them better.

Have you ever had disorganised thoughts and speech? Did you manage to improve this?

Atm i have bad alogia im very mute. It feels like i have no thoughts. If i try to explain something i get very tangled and confused? Would you say you have experienced this and improved?

How did cbt help with your negs? Do you enjoy hobbies or work etc?

I’ve started on some healthy habits lately to improve C and N.
Firstly I eat loads of veggies now.
I try to get enough sleep.
Lastly is that I exercise 2 mills on my thread mill.
Those 3 thing Can improve the negative and cognitive aspekt of the mental illness.

Yes, back in the nineties. I pushed myself until I got better and I also found ways to function on lower doses of meds (CBT and other therapy).

I used to struggle with this pretty badly. Before meds. I would talk in circles, never reaching my point, and often forget what I had already said or what the question was. After finding the best meds for me, I can get my point across better, but I do still struggle a bit. My memory is pretty bad, though, and seems to be getting worse. I wonder if the meds are causing the memory problems.

I guess you just need to work with your pdoc. Tell them all of your symptoms and all of your side effects. I like to make a list before my appointment, of things I need to talk to them about, to make sure everything is addressed in the visit.

You might need to increase meds. You might need to decrease. Or maybe you need to try a different med or different meds. But only your pdoc can decide this with you. Good luck.

Have you improved negatives at all

How did you push yourself? Was it a matter of training to talk etc

How long did you start noticing improvement after starting this

Yes and no. It is up and down. Sometimes I am doing better and can work on my hobbies, do chores, do my makeup in the morning, etc. Other times, I can only surf Redditt or the Sz forum for hours or I just lay in bed.

I read books, I went to AA meetings and visited, I did puzzles, and I used resources from my local library like crazy. If it was something I couldn’t do but wanted to, I tried to expose myself to it in increasing amounts. It took me at least three years to get to where I was taking care of myself again and another year to get back to working part-time. It snowballed from there once I was over the hump.

Which meds are you on, partial agonists block less dopamine Abilify, Rexulti, Vraylar

What about speech? Did you practice this or pushed yourself to social situations? I feel i can only say a short sentence, not much detail and very simple answers. Were you this bad?

I have no negatives now and no cognitives

Are you able to work? Are you able to socialize?

How bad were you? What helped?

Im on low dose abilify. I had negatives before meds though

I couldn’t do anything.
I was desperate about negatives.
But now i mostly deal with positives

What did you do to improve?
Has anhedonia improved too?

I would go catatonic and needed help with toileting. That’s how bad I was at the outset.

I practiced speech a lot in front of a mirror. Reading out loud as well. I still practice speech, but in an unusual way…

I run an online station from my basement as a hobby.
