Coffee prices are going up

Does it show in your local store? Are your local coffee prices going up? At my local store coffee prices are going up. I was at one grocery store today and one older man talked how this global weather has affected the production of coffee and this has caused prices going up. I checked on the net and found out that coffee prices have risen by 40 % in this year.

Noo, I just bought an espresso machine.

But coffee has always been expensive. I think Sweden and Finland are top consumers of coffee. They can up the prices and I think Scandinavians will still consume as they’ve always have.

Do you drink much coffee mjseu?

I drink 2 kg a month. So quite a lot. I try to buy when there are special discounts such as 3x500g 9 euros. But I can see that the prices of some coffee brands that I have bought are going up.

That’s alot.

I don’t know how much I consume?? I used to drink french pressed but drank too much. Then I switched to instant coffee which I drink now. I usually buy Gevalia. It’s expensive here, it costs about 5- 6euros a pack of 200g. I drink maximum of 3 cups a day.

I also have a capsule or pod machine which I got as a gift but the pods cost alot. So I make them only if I get visitors.

Before I got sick I used to binge drink coffee to stay alert but these days my panic attacks and anxiety worsens if I do. I try to stay calm as possible. I don’t want to stress cause I can’t handle it anymore.

@schizophrenisaurus I do not have a camera and so I can not take photos. My phone camera broke many months ago.

@Headspark I checked the price of gold that is often used as the safe harbor to counter the rising inflation. The price of gold has gone up since the beginning of 2020. I think that the markets predicted the higher inflation already then. Now the price of gold is over 1800 USDs per ounce.

I’ve read cryptocurrency is a hedge against inflation. I’m hoping that sends my crypto holdings up up up. To the moon baby!

Of course crypto has its own problems, Elon Musk sneezes and the price goes crazy.

I bought coffee the other day online, same price as usual but when I got it the container was smaller.

The prices and quality of many crops have been affected by the climate change. For example we had a very warm June and July and prices of berries are higher in the market place, in addition to this berries such as blue berries are smaller. So people have to buy lower quality berries at higher prices. The same thing maybe with coffee. That older man who told that coffee prices are going up told also that the harvest of coffee in Brazil (the biggest coffee production nation) has been quite unsuccessful. So in this way the climate change is affecting all of us.

Here everything is more expensive since covid started.

I noticed that the prices at Starbucks went up… a lot… I bought a venti (large) drink, back in May. I think it was an iced caramel macchiato, no changes or add-ins.

It was like 6 USD!!! AHHHH.

I’ve been drinking coffee at home, now, almost exclusively. I did get coffee at a coffee truck, at the Farmers’ Market, on Saturday. But I usually stick to my dark roast k-cups from Costco. Much, much cheaper.

The prices of cereal grains are going to go up this fall. My region of Canada produces a significant portion of the crops that feed the world. I’ve never in my life seen crop failures this bad or this widespread. We’ve had weeks of constant heat and smoke, nary a cloud in the sky. Practically no rain with widespread drought. The crops are stunted and those that haven’t burned off entirely are undeveloped. The heads of wheat and barley are empty. I’m not even sure if what has grown can be considered feed quality for cattle. County after county has declared agricultural disasters to access provincial and federal funding.

Just a really crappy year.

It sounds quite terrible. Many areas of the world have had drought and the crops have been unsuccessful.

yea thats the thing with coffee. Buying from a tim hortons or dunkin cost so much more anyways that i wouldnt really be concerned about coffee prices going up a little just because if you switched to instant instead of buying there you’d save way more anyways. id worry about that first lol $4 for a coffee at tims vs $4 for a big tub of instant coffee (with 50 cups in it)

Gas prices crashed at the beginning of covid, now they are exactly double what they were during that crash.

can i intrust you in a bag of coffee for only 20 bucks a oz. hi Dr Zen Here coffee my be high but can you cut down before it hits.

I drink Nescafé Classico instant coffee. I haven’t noticed the price go up. I used to drink cups when I found good deals but there haven’t been any so I just drink the instant stuff

There have not been any signs of rising coffee prices. I just bought additional three 500g packs of coffee. Now I have five 500g packs, so I have 2.5 kg and this should last until October. There are good coffee deals, three 500g packs was only eight euros.
