Clozapine to Loxapine

Hey we doing well on clozapine but couldn’t stay on it as it was greatly reducing my white blood cells. Currently on Loxapine 25mg 3 times a day for a total of 75 mg.

So far it hasn’t been going well. I had to quit my job early yesterday (said I wasn’t feeling well) as I having dark thoughts. Voice was making me feel really down and some thoughts of suicide. Couldn’t fake beings well so went home early.

Anyone have any experience with Loxapine?

Anyone? 15151515

Mike,I’ve read that is similar to clozapine.Maybe you just take it and wait.I’d like to help you,but those old drugs have majority of side effects. When I first was put on Clozapine, they gave me injections of haldol as well. Can you contact the person who prescribed you such an old med.

I don’t have any experience with Loxapine but I do have a lot of experience with Clozapine. I can tell you that Clozapine is a very difficult medication to discontinue. It can be very intense and disorienting. Regardless of the issue you did the right thing by leaving work early. Med changes can be super taxing on your body.

Thanks I hope so.

Hopefully it will kick in like clozapine but without the sides.

Probably not as clozapine, but it can be bridge before you feel better

Mike,in order to find some results for you about Loxapine,I saw you asked same question 29 days ago. What changed.

Before I was wondering about possible sides. Now I am going through sides. Just looking for support.

It’s ok.Do you trust your doctor?

Yes I do. 15151515

I was on Loxapine for a year, I hated it. It stopped working after a while and I had really bad Akathisia but thats my experience.

We’re you able to sleep well? I am finding it hard to get a good nights rest. My heart rate is elevated from distress of voices.

From what I remember, my sleep was poor because I had a lot of energy.

Well I read it causes increase heart rate which is preventing me from sleeping well.

I believe i was experiencing withdrawal from clozapine. Feeling a bit better now on loxapine for a few days. Don’t feel as sad/depressed which is good. Also less voices then when first dropping clozapine for loxapine.

I have loxapine as a PRN. It definitely helps me from spiralling. I’m also on 600mg quetiapine.

I took loxapine cut short of taking it a full month though. I felt it wasn’t helping.

After two weeks I feel good on Loxapine. Also on lorazepam for anxiety and quetiapine to sleep.
I find I only get 6 hours sleep a night tough.
