Clozapine or Olazapine?

I can’t decide which drug I want to try next. Both Drugs cause weight gain and diabetes. All I know is I have to get off of this Invega Sustenna . It’s causing me to lactate. So which is the lesser of two evils, clozapine or olazapine?

I believe they’re really similar, but clozapine has higher efficacy (more effective for psychosis). Sadly the risk of diabetes comes with both; I’ve noticed a lot of people do really well with Clozapine though

I have great luck with olanzapine. It works well. It’s an effective ap. I would talk to your psych to see what they recommend though.

Do you know if olanzapine raises your prolactin levels and is it effective for psychosis?

10 mg of Olanzapine works for me although I still get positive symptoms on it.

I found clozapine to be more efficacious than olanzapine, and i actually lost weight on clozapine whereas olanzapine made me a food monster. I would go with clozapine.

Try Amisulpride. A study claims its second to Clozapine.

Unfortunately, I can’t because it raises prolactin levels.

Ach my apologies. Yes indeed, it does that. Such a great med however.

No worries. I’ve heard things about it though.

I’m on 20 mg of olanzapine and 1 mg risperidone. I have reversed my diabetes while on it.

I have not taken any diabetes meds in like 5 months but I had my A1C checked a week ago and I’m not even if the prediabetes range. I’m in the normal range.

Eat healthy and exercise is my goal and it’s working

With clozapine you have the blood work that has to be done.

I heard about the blood tests. Those are a hassle.

That’s good that you’ve reversed your diabetes. I’ve heard that can be one of the side effects of olanzapine.

I think exercise and diet have more of an effect than olanzapine. But olanzapine definitely can have an effect on blood sugar
