Im on clozaril for the past ten years it work great, but the side effects are very tough to deal with those include weight gain , sedation, drooling at night constapation, very strong drug!

I haven’t had a sleepless night in the fithteen year I been on clozapine

I’ve seen some people I work with completely recover on clozapine when nothing else would work. Although it take a lot more than just medication to get back to functioning. Be careful drinking with clozapine as together they highly raise the risk of seizures.

I’ve been on clozapine since 7 years, here are the pros and cons

Pros:

  1. Destroyes all positive symptoms(delusions, paranoia etc)
  2. Better memory as you dont have to take EPS med on it like Trihexyphenidyl and Benzatropine

Cons:

  1. Intense sedation and seelpiness
  2. Seizures like myoclonic jerks
  3. Bed wetting at medium doses
  4. Worsening OCD symptoms and other anxiety disorders
  5. Huge weight gain
