Climate Change

I hope climate change is real. This world could use a bit of shake up

I love your new avatar haha sanders!!!

That’s called pollution. I don’t like pollution - that’s why I walk to work. That’s why I tell my kid she doesn’t need crappy plastic toys from the Dollar Store. We’re talking about something different than ā€˜carbon emissions’ causing global warming or, now, global cooling.

I’m all for clean sources of energy when they make sense. Windmills don’t make sense at this time. Biofuels (very indirect solar) also don’t make sense. I’m looking forward to viable electric vehicles and cheap fusion power hopefully in my lifetime.

Actually, yes it does. If you want to shut down the very demonstrably clean and safe coal generating station next to my town because you claim it’s causing global warming (or this week, cooling), all those who are about to be tossed out of jobs would like to see some solid data supporting your claims and be able to examine this data for themselves. Just calling them deniers and telling them to shut up and lose their homes quietly doesn’t exactly go over well.

That’s what bugs me, it was called global warming, then fast forward to a few severe winters later, and hey presto, now it’s ā€˜climate change’.

I think it’s totally fine to be skeptical; we should be. At the same time, I think we need to give more credence to the professionals in the field, scientists, rather than political pundits.

Climate change makes me upset :frowning:

One station issue that has long been a favorite of those who reject climate science relates to the fact that cityscapes tend to heat up in the sun more than rural landscapes do. Just as moving a weather station from the post office building to an airport creates a cooling bias, a city growing up around a station can create a gradual warming bias.

Evaluating this ā€œurban heat islandā€ effect was also on Berkeley Earth’s to-do list. They found (as others have) that it had no effect on their estimates of global temperatures. Zeke Hausfather, now a research scientist on the Berkeley Earth team, led a separate 2013 study examining this question. That study split about 10,000 US stations into urban and rural ones, examining their warming trends separately. ā€œThere was some difference in the raw data,ā€ Hausfather told Ars. ā€œBut once you do [the homogenization], there’s no difference between urban and rural stations.ā€

As another check, they homogenized all the stations using only the rural ones as the comparisons. ā€œWe used the rural stations to adjust the urban stations, but the urban stations themselves were not used to adjust anything,ā€ Hausfather said. ā€œWe got pretty much the exact same result as if we used all stations, urban and rural, which is a very strong indication that these adjustments are good at picking up these divergent signals, and the network itself is sufficiently rural that it’s not being swamped by urban signals.ā€

This is about ā€˜wealth distribution’ from the have countries to the have-nots…

When Global Warming became a farce, the fascist environmentalists changed the name to Climate Change to further their own cause.

Those I would like to meet

I Havent had a drink in four months and no grass for two weeks.I am 55 and I need a little dental work as well as prostate problems.I take Seroquel,200mgs a day and some times I black out.Has anybody else had problems with seroquel ? I like it and I dont drive after I take it.I do miss the grass and dont plan to quit it entirely ,I simply cant find it. I still hear and see things but the seroquel is a big help.

It’s called climate change because it’s affected different parts of the world differently. The arctic is quickly melting, but the antarctic is slowly expanding

Since when is coal clean and safe? http://www.popularmechanics.com/science/energy/a4947/4339171/

It’s dumb for anyone to claim evidence is irrefutable for things like climate change being man made from only about a century worth of adequate data collected when it’s a well known thing that weather patterns can take thousands of years to shift. It’s like we’re beating our chests demanding to be let into an operating room to perform heart surgery when we only have a basic understanding of the circulatory system from a book.

I’m not saying humans are not ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  up the world’s climate, I’m saying we really don’t know and we’re just making (maybe very wrong) educated guesses.

I agree with you and i would like to add, climate change is real. The climate has been changing since the beginning of time and will continue to change as long as Earth exists.Whether mankind is responsible for any change remains to be seen.

When it comes to Ann… (I mean, she does have a track record.)

How long did you smoke grass before you quit?

Except that I didn’t link to anything written by Ann. That’s like me discounting everything @Malvok says because he posts in the same community @Daimon does (a fellow who manages to make poor Ms. Coulter look good by contrast, it must be confessed).

How did she come up? (Nah; fuhgeddaboutit.)

Scum always floats to the top. (I’m not her biggest fan, either.)
