Did you have friends really early in life? I think it effects our language and makes our imaginations too strong for our own good causing schizophrenia.
I would say the opposite is more likely to be true.
Yeah I’d say it’d be the opposite if anything.
For me I had friends early in life then lost almost them all and I didn’t fit in at all.
My introvertion and isolation in my late teens brought upon symptoms, and that’s pretty common.
I did too and we used to play and it involved a lot of imagination.
The same thing happened to me latter and on top of not fitting in I never ate fish or food fish oil so I didn’t get help from that either. Fish oil helps me become involved in the group more I think of it as like a school of fish that’s why it works.
We played too and it gave us imagination but I don’t think it causes sz. I mean look at my friends, they didn’t get sz.
Really because I saw one of mine in the hospital psych ward at the same time I was there and lost track of the others. And we had at least 3 other families we spent time with but not at the same time.
A feature of schizophrenia is that we tend to jump to conclusions and generalize broadly from insufficient information. Researches speculate that we are overly reliant on our intuitive/social reasoning, as opposed to our logical/rule-bound reasoning.
Honestly if i wasnt smoking by myself so much i probably wouldnt have developed sz. Cause i use to smoke people all the time when i was younger and i never heard voices plus i didnt smoke as much either. I started noticing paranoia the more introverted i became… yo i was a recluse before i developed voices my anxiety was through the roof, and i could only hang with one of my friends like once every 3 weeks to a month. I personally think my sz developed from my anxiety the loss of my best friend (my mom) and my introverted personality plus smoking too
Gosh, this is so accurate!
Sounds like me a lot. Smoked a lot weed(especially cones)15-17, gave me psychotic experiences which due to family who already had it (didn’t know) worsened… My father never told me his mother had Schizophrenia.
10 years later I’m finally diagnosed as paranoid sz, but I’ve had it for 10 years, it just became worse. I know what you mean man.
Its gotten worse you say? Damn so what happened first? Like you started hearing voices?
The schizophrenia beliefs also are used as a way to cope from having to think about bad things so much. We think about things too little and think it’s okay to believe whatever feels good like a fantasy.
Ever had those ‘breaks’ when you’re with a group of mates smoking weed and you get all paranoid to th point of delusion? That’s how it started for me at like 15 smoking 3-4 grams a day.
My voices ( and visions ) were like internal chatter until I was 25, then they went FULL on in the span of a months, hundreds of voices, lady gaga, rihanna, the queen, Eminem, the pope Hahahah… Funniest ■■■■.
What about you?
I’m not talking about beliefs in particular, but how we reason. This effect is pronounced even for basic reasoning tasks. It serves no purpose in such tasks.
Sort of like mines got louder over months of smoking by myself. But one particular incident i can remember is i smoking one by myself and went to sleep and i woke up around 2 in the morning to what sound like my brother’s girl was talking hella s*** through the wall on her cell phone with somebody about me. When i checked on her she was dead asleep. I didnt know what sz or a psychotic episodes was so i just said she messing around. Then it went to every night to even people on the street i thought were talking about me. Idk what to think then finally i was alone in my friends room freestyle rapping with no beat so it was quiet and all of sudden a voice came from his vent and started calling me the truth…
it was all down hill from there. But i know what you mean about the delusions and smoking but i knew weed can make me paranoid sometimes so i could identify when i was just tripping.
Are you talking about reasoning with hallucinations?
Now I can remember first making myself schizophrenic playing with my stuffed animals because I wanted them to talk so badly and when they did I was like yes! Now I’m like sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet
No, I’m talking about, presumably, all reasoning tasks. In one experiment they had people request individual beads from a jar. They couldn’t see what was in the jar, but were told that there were two colors and that their task was to find out which color most of the beads were. People with schizophrenia picked a lot fewer beads than people without schizophrenia or with a different mental illness before they concluded which color was most common.
This isn’t specifically about the symptoms of schizophrenia. It is much more basic. But it definitely influences your symptoms and how you deal with them.
