Indeed, research confirms people who use cannabis are four times more likely to develop chronic psychosis, or schizophrenia, compared to people who don’t. For people who smoke every day or use higher potency products, the risk is up to six times higher. One study found eliminating marijuana use in adolescents would reduce global rates of schizophrenia by 10%.

Still waiting for parental classes that state that trauma is the gateway drug for all drugs and the primary cause for psychosis just one step removed…

Here the government already put a warning on weed products since legalization of cannabis. The warning say cannabis may cause or worsen symptoms of sz and may cause early onset sz.

Specifically the warning says its the THC thats the warning is about and that the higher the THC content the more its likely to worsen or induce early onset sz.

I see these studies and I believe them, I guess.

I just know sooo many people that frequently use cannabis and I’m the only one I know with schizophrenia.

And it was not drug induced.

I feel like if these numbers were right this forum would be a lot more active.

I’d also have some schizophrenic friends, so that’d be, interesting.

The articles just don’t reflect reality for me.

But yeah, put more labels on it.

Really worked for cigarettes.

That’s no surprise and yet we still legalize it

This opens a. Broad topic of whether adulthood starts at18 or 24.

This is also fake news

Here’s a cannabis article from a 1/2 way legit source

Im not sure if marijuana causes sz but it could cause psychosis in people susceptible to it. That could lead to chronic psychosis which would prob end up as a sz diagnosis.

No one is sure. It’s the big unknown.

But I believe in my case with parenting and effort I could have pulled thru the hard times in HS and have avoided this ■■■■.

Puts ■■■■ in perspective when I see other people self medicating with cannabis because I always ride into this guilt trip because it’s not accepted in western culture.

If it doesn’t cost hundreds of dollars and need a doctor to prescribe it it’s ‘forbidden’

For clarification @Aziz means Canada where marijuana is legal for both medicinal and recreational purposes.

We already have labels. This is an example of a label on some marijuana products in Canada.

Are the labels taken Seriously by youth?

I think I wouldn’t have started smoking weed if I knew schizophrenia was a potential outcome

Edit: captain obvious here

But kids are dumb and overlook ■■■■ like schizophrenia warning labels
