Can't give up, have to keep trying

I’ve tried and failed many times at quitting smoking. Also failed many times at trying to eat healthier to lose weight.

Tomorrow is a new day and another opportunity to live a healthier life.

I will try again at quitting smoking and fixing my diet.

You dont tell a heroin addict to give up. I’m not giving up!

Anyone have any experience and success at quiting smoking and binge eating?

I’m not really a binge eater, but I am a world-class snacker. I eat mindlessly all evening. Maybe ask your doctor about Saxenda? It has sent my appetite off a cliff. I still go into the kitchen to look for food out of habit and then realize I’m not hungry and leave.

I’m not a good one for help with smoking since I quit by accident, LOL.

Aiming to do both at the same time is tough. Hunger goes up while you quit cigs.

And something I heard and agree with, is that will power is a finite resource that depletes.

So my tip here is to quit smoking first. I’d constantly remind you that “You have to really want it”.

Then, aim for less caloric intake.

Cold showers too help with will power… I really believe in this.

Going to hard on a diet often results in failure as sustaining it long term unless you are very determined indeed.

Know yourself! Are you a type of person who sets a goal and won’t quit? Or a less determined individual?

Cater your dieting style around yourself!

I see @anon67051439 is going tooth and nail and has made remarkable progress in a short amount of time. I was ther same when I first lost weight from 85kg down to 75kg. Strict diet and exercise!

I see that @everhopeful is going for a long term strategy, losing wieight at a slow and continual pace.

It is working for them both!

Do what you can, but know it is a long process taking many months and years to really achieve. And once you get there you can’t pig out again!

never give up. im on olanzapine which is extremely hard for me to lose weight on, but im going back on invega which i easily lost 60 lbs in first few months of switching. mental health remained the same throughout the switch. i think theres a possibility to lose weight on olanzapine but for me id need additional meds to keep my metabolitic parameters and appetite in order. on invega i ate much less even tho i plateaued after the first 60 lbs of loss.
i quit smoking a while ago and stopped nicotine altogether for almost a year. im vaping now tho as i enjoy it but i dont think i could ever smoke again. i used to crave cigs even while vaping but once i actually smoked a cig it barely nudged the cravings and my mouth tasted like dirt. maybe i craved the nostalgia of when cigs used to have an effect on me.

as long as you keep trying, failure doesnt matter, giving up is the only way to fail.

Good luck you can do it.

My success so far has been 3 days straight.

With my dieting.

It’s an immense challenge on antipsychotics

One day in itself is a success you gotta take it day at a time.

I’m trying again tomorrow

Thanks for the positive words and good advice everyone!

The best strategy that works for me is intermittent fasting but everyone is different. Snacks are not essential I think if you eliminate them and eat 2-3 meals a day you will lose weight. I eat less bread and fried stuff as they have lots of calories but I have cheat days once a week where I eat them in bigger quantities. In fact I just had 2 chicken quesadillas with strawberry yoghurt. I also think that walking 10k steps a day helps even if its inside. When I feel tired to walk outside I just walk back and forth at home eventhough its feels crazy.
