I have good news and bad news

The good: Today marks the 1 week mark of no smoking cigarettes for me. I already notice my breathing is better even after only 7 days. Feeling confident i’ll keep this going. Going to start exercising again

The bad: I havent been eating healthy and have put on some weight this past week. Need to have more will power when it comes to eating healthy

When i quit smoking cold turkey the first time i was ravenous for food. Apparently this is common. You may gain some weight. Aside from that it is still worth it. Congratulations

Something I tell myself is:

Don’t let perfect be the enemy of the good.

You’re on the right path and quitting smokes while gaining weight is natural.

It’s all so very good.

Don’t let your idea of striving to be perfect across the board cause you to junk it all.

@TheCanuk it is extremely difficult to lose weight on olanzapine but not impossible

I’ve lost 25 pounds on olanzapine in the past but I eventually gained it all back. I know its difficult but with the right diet and exercise it can be done.

I quit smoking 3-4 months ago. Well, not completely quit, but started vaping rather than smoking. I have felt very hungry ever since.

Ye when you quit smoking starting to eat more it’s bad

That’s great. You can do this. You’re proving that as I write this message.

I’ve lost about 80 in the last three years. Recently though I gained ten. Then the last time I was weighed I lost 5. According to the scale I’m 215.

I want to lose about 55 more then put on some muscle. I’m pretty sure they don’t like me running on the treadmill as I always get a short mania afterword. That runner’s high is the best. I want to see what it’s like running mad.

I’m still a very good runner considering how out of shape I am. That airborne unit running has stayed with me. When I weighed 280 I ran a mile without stopping. About died literally. Then when I recently ran couple days ago I ran ten minutes. I wanted to quit the first 5. Kept pushing by the ten minute mark I felt like I could run another 20. I wasn’t even breathing heavy. Then the runners high woooooh.

IF there is a point to my post it’s that you should try running.

Congratulations on the not smoking! You’ve made it this far, I think the hard part is soon over.
As for the junk food I don’t have much advice besides eat lots of vegetables and fruit. I was on a health kick one time and buying whole coconuts was awesome. You get the energy boost of the milk plus the meat is a good chew and tastes satisfying. There’s just a trick to cracking them.

I am trying to stop vaping for lung concerns

am using nicotine gum to hope I can stop or really cut down on the vaping

You made a good point I would rather deal with having to exercise more and watch my diet then worry about lung issues
