Can you or have you lost weight on olanzipine with a healthy diet?

I have put 20kg on since the start of the year and I am determined to loose weight. Is it possible. Id love to talk to people who have lost weight on these meds or even know of people who have.

I lost a lot of weight by calorie counting. But I stopped and put some of it back on. I still have a lot to lose.

Download the “my fitness pal” app if you have a smartphone. That’s a calorie counting app. It’s a good place to start.

By the way I’m on the injection and I take prn pills 10mg

Thanks @everhopeful I will download the app but I generally know calories in food as when I was 14 (8 years ago) I was anorexic and was obsessed with calories and exercise. I just don’t want to fall into the eating disorders trap again. But I know how to loose the weight and I’m so determined to.

I was originally on clozapine when I was in a different city and I stopped it not long after moving cities. Now in the hospital they have put me on olanzipine just to clarify.

Oooh. Ah. I didn’t realise that. Sorry. Be very careful then. Maybe ask the hospital to set you up with a dietician when you’re feeling better. I saw a dietician for about a year.

If u live alone try only keeping foods that dont taste too good in house. So no snickers or ice-cream. If u live with someone that is useless tip. Besides that, little by little, just a little calorie deficit a day consistantly will go a long way. Also limit eating out, this is a big reason for obesity epidemic. I was 220, now 160, and on olanzapine.

Over the years,I have lost 50 pounds while on olanzapine. My diet is healthy and I exercise regularly.

That’s okay I am actually seeing a dietician and having healthy snacks. I was 84kg now I’m 80 kg so Yaya :grinning:

Yes I spend all my money on stuff I’ve needed for a while and just eat the hospital food.

i’m on olanzapine and have tried losing weight by dieting several different times, but had very little success. the only thing that worked for me was exercise, just going to the gym a few times a week was enough to lose a lot of weight. but, it’s different for everyone, maybe you’ll have more luck losing weight by dieting.
