Can you be functioning well, then Manic and psychotic and with mood stabilisers bring you back to functioning well?

I mean I came back from Sri Lanka last year and according to all my team I was manic and psychotic. I have took 150mg monthly injection of paliperidone for years now. I come back from Sri Lanka and showing illness, I got sectioned (hospitalised) and given a mood stabiliser (Epolin) with no increase of AP. I get well and some months later refuse to take the mood stabiliser. I remain well and out of hospital.

Does this sound night. No increase in antipsychotic and only increase mood stabiliser.Which I don’t take anymore. Will my 150mg a month injection be tiding me over now? Please let it make sense to me. Thank you.

sounds like a question for a pdoc, honestly.

But if you want an honest opinion, I don’t think mood stabilizers are known for bringing you of psychosis.

It sounds like youre back to stability on your regular meds. For me, i had to increase the ap after becoming sick, but this isnt necessary for everyone. Good for you not needing an increase.

Mood stabilizers are well known for bringing people out of manic psychosis @Bowens.

I see. I didnt think about schizoaffective / bipolar psychosis. YOu are probably right.

I just know my mood stabilizer INCREASES the risk of psychosis because of the changes in dopamine.

I have SZA. I’ve been questioning if I’ve been unwell @Bowens I even question if these intrusive thoughts I’m having about god reading my thoughts and talking to me on the TV are voices or are really intrusive thoughts? I will talk to my psychiatrist about them on Friday but I’m meant to go to Turkey on vacation for 11 days in April with my support staff. I don’t think I’m able too to be honest. Feel really bad for letting the support staff down.
