Is thorazine used as a sleep agent off label?
I’m looking for something to help me sleep in relation to a med switch.

I read online it’s only at high doses so you’d have to worry about side effects. But it’s best to ask your dr this. I don’t want to steer you wrong

Nozinan and thorazin are same group called phenotiazines.
One is levomepromazine
The other is chlorpromazine.
Nozinan is better for sleep, used both

Yeah. They want to give me nozinan, but don’t really want that as it’s only approved as veterinarian drug in some countries. Was looking for alternatives and wondered if thorazine could help me out.

It takes larger doses for sleep, and causes severe orthostatic problems.
Nozinan is commonly used in Eastern Europe for sleep

It says it works anti-histamine effect?
I tried a anti-histamine for sleep called vallergan which did nothing for me. But I guess it’s worth a try. All meds are different.

Thorazine is not used much anymore, do not think many doctors would prescribe it off label.

I use a 10 milligrams Clopixol pill(1. Gen antipsychotics) as sleep aid instead og 550 mg Seroquel.

Used to be on Chlorpromazine (Thorazine) over 10 years ago. Yeah - you will sleep on it alright - in fact i was comatose. Nasty horrible drug - the side affects are a nightmare.
In fact years ago it was used in uk prisons to calm difficult prisoners. Known then as “liquid cosh”.
I think its pretty rare its given now adays in the uk - and is probably used as a last resort.

I was on Perphenazine (Trilafon), for many years at a high dose. It didn’t do any good and the side effects were miserable. This was during the years before the atypicals were developed.

I would not recommend asking for Thorazine, it will turn you into a zombie, you will just sit in a chair staring off into space drooling, some doctors will not prescribe it for any reason as they think it is immoral, they only give it to people who’s aggressive tendencies need to be controlled in a hospital setting.
