Can’t lose weight

I eat anywhere from 900 - 1500 calories a day. Most of its pretty healthy food. I’ll try adding exercise as soon as I have stable housing but it’s frustrating that I’m not losing anything when my food intake is so low.

Whats your age, gender, height and weight?

If your already very skinny/light, and barely moving your body, theres a chance that 1500 calories a day wont make you lose weight.

Also, 900 calories is way too low, for both men and women. So low it could be messing with your metabolism.

What meds are you on? Aside from mental health, do you have any physical diagnosis?

33, male, 5,8, 280. No physical diagnosis. Rexulti 1.5 mgs, seraquel 150 mgs. I think some people just can’t lose weight on these meds only dieting.

Oh wow. Yeah at 280 pounds, eating 900 to 1500 calories a day, even with no exercise, you should still be losing weight. Id recommend seeing a doctor and explaining this.

That’s because you dont exercise.

I just got back from my second run/ walk. I wake up drink coffee then go for a long walk.

The only way you are going to be succesfull is if you are doing and doing it.

So I just go back I have more energy today then I have normal.

You can eat healthy, but you also need to exercise

I firmly believe for us folk that gain if we eat a cookie or can’t lose when all we eat is a salad is because we have metabolic challenges. I know my sister couldn’t lose weight and I mean she worked out, she ate the right foods supposedly, and she never ever faltered. But still no hope until she tried keto. She lost forty pounds instantly and has to actually cheat to keep herself from losing too quickly. The truck is that when you go into ketosis you’re brain runs on ketones instead of glucose. It changes your metabolism to burn the deep fat first, the kind that’s surrounding your organs, very quickly taking you away from the fatty liver and fat surrounding your heart state and the starts on the looser fat around the midsection that bothers people so much, and continues on with the rest of the over abundance. It’s really got me excited to try keto myself. Also apparently there’s tons of science starting to accumulate around running off ketones and healing issues like diabetes, which we know weight loss alone could do, but it seems it’s working at the very heart of the issue, insulin resistance I guess another metabolic problem. I’m starting to change my diet slowly over to a keto diet. The first thing my sister did was completely cut out sugar. Once off sugar she began by eating a small piece of lean meat of her choice and a huge salad with no croutons, no sugary fat free dressings, just a lot of evoo. She added nuts to her salad to make it more interesting and berries. I love any and all vinegars so I’ll use that and evoo plus lemon, herbs, maybe a bit of cottage cheese. The main thing is to keep your carb to protein and fat ratio extremely low. This makes you burn ketones instead of glucose and you train your body to run off ketones preferrecially. Now my sister can add a cheeseburger every once in awhile without going out of ketosis. And she simply doesn’t crave sugar and junk anymore. She does get hungry sometimes but apparently a swig of MCT oil takes the hunger right away, unless she actually needs calories which becomes clear and she fuels her body with a protein fat carb balanced meal that her body needs. It’s really great hearing all the science and research behind keto instead of just thinking just another fad diet. It is the reason those fad diets worked in some cases but they weren’t clear about how it was working and keto gets down to the metabolic level and really helps you learn what actual hunger is vs your cravings and habits. I’m so toked because I know exactly the feelings she’s behaving as I accidentally went on a keto diet many years back during a major depressive episode and lost eighty pounds. At the time I thought it was because I wasn’t eating much but now I realize how little I beat but yet get bigger and the difference was because the kids were still young I bought them while milk and with the high fat and protein it made an perfect thing to grab and sip if I was starving but I was never able to eat a meal really because of my depression. I was staying with my mother and she was always a big protein eater and she would beg me to have at least something so I would have a bite of meat and a mouthful of salad, sending me into a mindrushing bliss eventually getting me power walking three miles a day completely annihilating the depressive episode and actually getting me back to work. I know now that I can replicate it by going clean keto, and since I’m not fond of eating meat I think I can do it with nuts, nut butter, seeds, and a few beans here and there. Plus of course greens and a tad of fruit. Payday is Friday and I will refresh my staples with what I need to go keto and start. Please consider looking into it instead of continuing to bash your habits which have been incorrectly drilled into you that a diet filled with lots of beans whole grains a six ounces of meat and all the fruits and veggies you want three times a day is proper nutrition for everyone’s metabolism. It’s not true, it seems like it because that’s what the govt has been recommending for my whole life, but it isn’t true. Some people can eat that way, and a starving nation must rely on grains to feed the population, but we aren’t in starving nations, we are all sick metabolically all over the place and the incorrect, outdated recommendations of the majority is killing us. Live keto. I’m going to
