I’m currently taking Rexulti (1 mg) and Fluoxetine (20 mg).
When I started treatment, my weight was around 60 kg, but now I’ve reached 145 kg. This rapid weight gain has been overwhelming, and I feel stuck. I really want to get my weight down to at least 100 kg, but I don’t know where to start or how to manage this while staying on my medications.
If anyone here has gone through something similar or has any advice, tips, or even just words of encouragement, I’d be so grateful.
I wanted to add some more information about my situation for context.
I don’t eat too much – my eating habits are pretty much the same as they were before I started taking these medications. Despite this, the weight gain has been significant and persistent.
I’ve already tried many different strategies to lose weight through the years, including:
• Medications like Monjaro and Saxenda
• Diet plans like Keto
• Intermittent fasting
• Regular walking and exercise
Unfortunately, none of these have worked for me. I’m feeling really stuck and unsure what else to try.
If anyone has been in a similar situation or has anyw suggestions,
If you use an app like ‘my fitness’ or carb manager then when you add exactly what you eat and work it out.
Things like how much oil you use etc can quickly add up.
Be honest with yourself and measure it and start from there.
I have worked out exactly how many calories i can have a day to maintain my weight. What the doctors say is all mixed up due to meds, and what applies to us is different to what neurotypicals can eat.
I am a guy and can only have 1500 calories a day or I gain weight.
I live mostly on huel black edition with the extra protein, but i am a coeliac and find a lot of food is cross contaimnated with gluten so it is easier for me.
I agree with @labratmat . You should download a calorie counting app. This app will tell you how many calories a day you need to eat to lose weight and also help you track your daily calories intake.
Neither of those meds should account for that much weight gain according to what I just read. Your appetite must have increased and activity level decreased.
I am also on Metformin 500mmg twice a day I don’t think it’s that a high of a dose I lost weight in the beginning of being on Metformin been on it around over a year maybe. Good Luck
2000 mg of metformin is the highest dose. 1000 mg didn’t help weight loss for me. I have just been put on 2000 though so will have to see what happens. Will let you know if it has any effect. @xdanny have you tried weight watchers? It worked for me but I wasn’t disciplined enough to keep it up, it’s also very expensive but they do reduce the cost on occasion.
I was a member of TOPS (take off pounds sensibly) for a couple years. They are much more affordable than ww. I didn’t lose too much weight with them but I definitely have healthier eating and exercise habits than before I joined.
