But Yesterday at IOP this guy was asking the coordinator some questions “what time is it. Do I have enough time to go to McDonald’s”. I’m like behind him ITS ONLY 1157. YOURE GOOD. YOU GOT TIME.
He turns around says thanks man. Starts talking to me. He’s like what’s your name. I’m like Jon he says he’s James. I say no way that’s my middle name I’m Jon James. He asks my last name and I immediately tell him and then repeat my full name very emphatically.
He says his cousin has my last name. But he’s like my cousins Jamaican tho. He could tell I wasn’t Jamaican. Well I say my name is Jewish my dad is Jewish. He then tells me something about the Hebrew language and leaves for McDonald’s I don’t see him again.
I feel completely comfortable sharing my name with this Individual. But sometimes maybe should be cautious.
Do you personally share your full name with ppl?? If some stranger asked for your last name would u get paranoid?
good question, Jon.
I don’t give my last name
on my flyers and business cards, for doggie business,
it’s just Ms. Sheri.
too much fu-ck-ing fu-ck-ed up sh-it.
plus small town. rumors.
But James seemed really trustworthy. For some reason I just knew if I respect him/be honest. he respects me. Maybe he’ll even look out for me at some point. Got that vibe. I wanted to tell him. I hope I see him again. Think he was there just for a psych appointment
yeah. okay.
Phil goes for this though, hearing about, or maybe seeing
his same last name in some other person.
I had a guy call me in the 90s,
“our names are so similar”
it was the listing in our local phone book.
idk, it goes so far back, and has changed
so many times, the last name.
right!
I’ve always wanted to have a community center or something,
for those of us afflicted.
they do so much for the intellectually disabled, like my son,
Down syndrome, but not for us.
sometimes though I’ve been able to partake in his,
dances, parties, holidays.
I’m used to it being from a small town where we’re likely to actually know each other somehow. My family is kind of a big one in town, too, so it’s common for people to ask who I’m related to.
even on Facebook, Jon, you got a name like Michael Davis, there could be dozen of em.
I figure with doggies, my first name, Sheri,
it really could be anybody, and they can’t look me up.
One time I was walking past a couple of policemen, and one of them went, “Hey, George.” I turned and yelled at them, “Tom! My name is Tom!” They sprayed me with pepper spray, handcuffed me, slammed me down face first onto the ground, put their knees on the back of my head, and ground my face into the dirt after I had been pepper sprayed. It hurt like hell. AND I STILL HATE THE NAME “GEORGE”!
when i zoom with my clubhouse my full name used to come up on the screen. i think everyones firgotten it though. friends used to call me by my last name.
I’m from the Southeast (US) and yes I don’t worry about telling people my whole name. I’m not from a town where everyone knows your relatives or anything, I’m just not paranoid about it. I wouldn’t hesitate in an IOP.
I don’t think I’m important enough for someone to come kill me. I mean there are repercussions especially if u get caught and our house is deep in the woods with many surrounding concerned middle aged housewives to call the cops if they were to murder me they’d go to jail and I don’t think they want to waste their ‘kill b4 jail’ on me.
