Can I be here if I'm self diagnosed

if I tell my therapist I’m scared she might not believe me or tell my family, and my family would just think I’m crazy and pray for me.

Hia!They are professional they are there to help you and only that. I would really tell your therapist and talk to a psychiatric doctor. The sooner you are treated the better ur chances of recovery.
They are confidential people too. And I always double check that with them too just to feel safe

No one’s going to kick you out, but you really need to see a psychiatrist and get a diagnosis so you can be accurately treated.

It is rare for people to self diagnose. Most of us run into the mental health system through hospital and psychosis.

If your in doubt seek medical help. A psychiatrist will sort it out.

What are your symptoms that you think you have schizophrenia?

If you’re worried, I would seek the help of a professional. They are there to help you get the diagnosis right (if there is one, sometimes the issues are too complex to pin down) and then the medications straightened out.

I dont see why you cant be here mate. I swear i knew already for years beforehand i had schizophrenia - before they finally diagnosed me just a year or so ago. They just confimed it. Welcome.

Talk with a psychiatrist, schizophrenia will destroy your brain without treatment…

Talking with someone can’t hurt. I was scared at first too, but it’s not that bad at all. It’s a psychiatrist’s job to help you

I think you should go to a mental health clinic or hospital and get diagnosed by a professional doctor. Medications will help you prevent you from doing bad things to yourself.

Besides that, if you go to a public hospital… medications will be a whole load cheaper. I pay like only 2 bucks to get two months of supply of antipsychotics. Before this, I went to a premium healthcare centre and they charged me over $100 for treatment and consultation.

Nope. You only have to be over 13.

Aww man… Well then I need to start minding my manners.

This is a community for people diagnosed or who may think they have psychosis. Or similar anyway. This is the description of this forum

A lot of people come here before they get an official diagnosis. Maybe they can’t get one at their current point in life or they are scared and uncertain about it. I was in that group as well when I came here, I was HIGHLY suspicious I had some form of psychotic disorder. People on this forum were the ones who actually convinced me to open up about it to mental health professionals for the first time. Now here I am a few years later diagnosed schizoaffective.

It was a huge relief to finally start talking about the psychosis in therapy, because I had been in therapy for several years before getting the courage to bring it up and it made me realize that 99% of my issues all tied into the psychosis and did not make sense without bringing those symptoms into it. I highly recommend you bring it up at least with your therapist. Just be honest about your symptoms and they should help you discern what precisely it is you’re experiencing.

Sure. I just hope you aren’t self medicating. I got diagnosed between 2008 and 2010 but I didn’t buy into it until 2014. .

I am a slow learner

I thought insight into the illness of schizophrenia was all elusive. It took over nine years of extreme delusions and hallucinations before I agreed to seek help and then after a ride in the back of a cop car to the psychiatric hospital I was later diagnosed with late onset schizophrenia.

In any event if you have suspicions that your sense of reality is disturbed or unreal go see a psychiatrist, not a psychologist but a psychiatrist.
