Feeling down. Im leaving my current role soon. I am getting called names by a different colleague than the one in my last post. They range from “twit” and “dick”. Yesterday it was “weirdo”. I really felt like replying back to her saying "it takes one to know one " but I didn’t want to sink down to her level because I know I’m better than that. She is a loud extrovert. I seriously can’t wait for my last day to come quickly enough! How do I help myself feel better?
Have you tried reporting this to a manager? It is unacceptable workplace behaviour. You should not be the one having to change jobs.
Hi @jenny8022, I have moved your topic to the School and Work category where it is a better fit. I hope that this is okay and that you receive the support you need with your issue.
v.
It’s time to stick on to the company.
Extrovert they wont stay longer in a company.
As they will be pulled down by their own actions and words.
As per my experience be silent, they will automatically quit.
You don’t have to take such a big decision.
People do watch your work more than how you socialize.
We are being paid for the work we do not the people connection we make.
Are you sure this person is saying these things?
I’m not trying to diminish your experience. But this is a Sz forum. Are you sure it’s not in your head?
No. They are usually emboldened and go after others. The best way to stop workplace bullying is to stand up to it. If not for yourself, then for those you work with.
Believe you me I know she is saying them for real. That’s actually an insult. I have recovered 95% from the illness and have not had a psychosis in 21 years!
Congratulations on your recovery!!!
Ok, I’m sorry for my comment. I was not trying to insult you.
Because I made false accusations too with my paranoid thoughts and voice which I felt that came from my colleagues.
If the company know about my issue then they will have second thought.
My company knows about my issues and lets me train and manage junior insurance brokers. The government knows about my issues and I am still licensed to drive a school bus full of other peoples’ kids. What matters is if you’re stable and you’re functional. The label, not so much.
When I had workplace bullying, it was pervasive. I really did have to leave.
However, if it’s just one person, reporting this to a manager should help if the manager is a good manager and not toxic.
That said, you already put in your notice. I would still report this to the manager. If the manager doesn’t help, just try to get through the days. Otherwise, you can leave sooner. That might not be ideal if you need the money for those days in your paycheck. Also, if you want to work there again, then giving them the full two week notice is necessary.
I’m sorry you’re dealing with this.
Yes and yes. Not much you can do about a toxic workplace culture (looking at YOU Elon Musk), but it is critical to stand up when you can make a difference.
If resigning, ask for an exit interview. My boss did when she left and word got back to me that it made some waves through the company. I’m betting she caused a few of the recent positive changes.
I agree with this advice. Report it to the manager. If the manager does nothing, I’d leave sooner.
Also, if you choose to leave sooner, you can call the new place and ask them if they can move up your start date.
Sorry I wasn’t clear in my original post. I haven’t handed in my notice. My company had announced redundancies and were offering one staff member to be transferred. I put my name forward and Head Office accepted.
I’m sorry that that was your experience…
What’s happening to me is real. The first bully was reported to HR. She had been doing this for 16 months. She finally stopped. The second bully has only started her behaviour recently…(last few weeks).
I reported the 1st bully.
