Book progress

I worked on my book today. I got up to 2012. I was at 2008. Still have 7 years to go.

I am at 21,000 words. I think that is a little short for a book but I will probably add to it some.

good for you !! I self published. small sales…hopefully you can promote the book…I chose anonymous and so I can’t do book signings…dumb…I was delusional and thought at the time that my book would be super famous so I went anonymous…haha

I wouldn’t publish it under my real name. I am still in the closet with schizophrenia.

How many words was your book?

My first book was 34k words and my second was 43k words. They say 40k is a novel. And 25k-39999 is a novella

Below that is novelettes and short stories.

I didn’t publish either. Well I did then I deleted it from amazon . Obv i still have em tho.

my book was only 188 pages…I don’t know how many words that is…

I translated the New Testament for my book. But then I found out it wasn’t great so I wouldn’t publish it. But still laying on the polish.

I finished the first draft. I am at 26,000 words.

I am going to add to it though. It’s a good outline. I need to add more examples of symptoms and the daily struggles and an overview on suicidal ideation to try and help people. That’s why I wrote it.

Nice @TomCat.

Are you doing a story based on your life?

Yes. It’s about recovering from schizophrenia and going back to work full time.

The publisher I am talking to wouldn’t give me a quote until I had a completed manuscript. I want to wait about another 6 months to see how I am going to do though.

I wish you luck, books are not easy to write.

188 x ~220= roughly how many words your books is.

Because standard books have about 200-250 words per page.

My book is right at 50k words. It is fictional, though.

Memoirs can be 50k or more. Good luck with your book!

I’ll probably write a book someday on my life and past lives. I get fearful and paranoid about it. I get scared. Maybe in 10 years time?

The problem with waiting is you forget. If I would have not been to paranoid to write it years ago it would have a lot more meat to it.

I would buy your book. I think your story is great. I’d be interested in hearing about your military career and story. You might need to get permission? I heard about that from others.

Yes, the Department of Defense will have to review my manuscript before release. It takes about 30 days.

I don’t think they are going to like it. I talk highly of my service and experience and combat and I don’t think any of it is classified. There may be one thing they want me to take out but when I talk about how I was treated in an Army hospital it is all pretty negative.

They intentionally made me more delusional and should have been helping me but they made me worse. I realize I am the sick one and the delusional one but still certain things shouldn’t have happened.

Well I sent the first draft to the publisher for review. I told her I want to go through it and add some more detail and wrap up the ending a little better but she said in a few days she would send me a proposal.

Curious to see what this will cost. I have obviously never done this before.

They sent me a quote on publishing 500, 750 or 1000 books.

Don’t know if I could sell that many. They said they will sell the book for $16.95 and it will cost me $5 or less per copy.

I don’t know if that’s a good deal or not.

Self publishing on Amazon could be an option.

I made $4 from KDP (profit) :upside_down_face:

It’s all about advertising really @TomCat , you need to spend a good amount on money on that, imo.
