I know im a dork for liking her but she is a good essayist!
Yeah,
The kids these days have to change the name of everything.
That’s body positivity.
Body “neutrality” is basically the same thing without liking yourself.
And why does she have that big ass mic?
What about being real about the fact that competition exists and that some people are more competitive than others?
Anyway body neutrality is a way to address
Lots of young women under way too much pressure psychologically for naught.
I think the commoditization of bodies is the problem.
Whether it’s a “sexy, perfect” body selling me sunscreen, or deodorant commercials trying to get me to love myself— it’s all a marketing ploy.
It’s sad that commercials have so much hold over the human psyche for many people in order to just rake in some dollars.
I will say though, that as a consumer, I would probs much rather see equal representation of all sorts of bodies instead of the unattainable figure.
The pressure that people feel is all fake and they should know that.
I like the concept of the body being an instrument not an ornament that’s a great idea and it’s very true our culture is obsessed with taking the body and making an object out of it
I disagree.
I think we think we want to see more representation,
But really don’t.
That doesn’t sell.
It’s a nice thought,
Just not going to happen.
I don’t think.
If the representation is different body shapes that’s well all well and good but presenting lack of Health like the accumulation of body fat over a certain body fat percentage isn’t reasonable it’s never going to happen in our media it looks unhealthy and it is
Thats for body positivity
Body neutrality could question our focus on thr body socially. Making our discourse more developed and sensitive. Rather than asking people to find fat women attractive, we could just stop focusing on it.
Would also be good to figure out endocrine system and manage peoples weights with medicine so everyone can be their healthy selves
I agree it might not sell as well as the ideal, but I don’t mind.
When you see a campaign that is inclusive,
It’s noticeable and distracting from the product.
I think that’s because perfect bodies are so deeply ingrained in our culture as a marketing item.
We see cellulite and shiit goes bananas .
^^ ,im talking about runway
She is a knockout for sure.
I agree that her proportions prolly would have gotten her booted from a few runway shows back in the day.
From what I understand, the whole 90’s “heroin chic” look is coming back. There’s been the uptick in weight loss drugs like ozempic et al amongst celebs, as well as a plastic surgery procedure called “buccal fat removal,” which is basically where they suck the baby fat out of one’s cheeks— giving them a lot more definition in the jaw and cheek area.
It’s wild how body shapes become trendy and stuff. Just 10 years ago, Kim Kardashian’s ass was all the rage and tons of women got the dangerous procedure dubbed “Brazilian Butt Lift” done to emulate her curves.
Damn I gotta move to Serbia if that’s what women there like
Yeah they even like Badly Drawn shoulder tats LOL I should go there too
Joan Crawford was told if she wanted a career in film after age 25, she had better pull her back teeth to give her a higher cheekbone look.
She said all the women did it back then.
Joan Crawford interesting citation very pretty lady
I LOVE Joan Crawford.
She was a legend.
And a real trailblazer.
Her last words were “Don’t you dare ask God to help me.”
People were praying for her on her deathbed.
So badass.
All my devices are named golden age Hollywood names.
My phone always says “Connected to Joan Crawford”.
