Board games

There is a video games topic, but i never play,i dont have a pc or gaming computer. Im oldfashioned i guess. Does anyone else play board games? What do you play?

I used to with friends, but i lost them due to sz. Now i play with my kid. At the moment mostly Catan card game and machi koro. Also (rarely) chess or stratego. When he was 4-5-6 y/o we would play catan jr or monopoly jr.

So awesome you play games with your son!

My kids and I play Candy Land! We tried Monopoly, Jr. but they were too young for it!

How old are your kids again? Very young, i thought?

There are some really nice games for real young kids…But i dont know what you have there. We enjoyed plain old Memory or this: https://duckduckgo.com/?q=zet+m+op+slak+spel&t=samsung&iax=images&ia=images&iai=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.bijtanteleen.nl%2FWordpress%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2015%2F04%2FG579-1.jpg

My son still wants to play it… :slight_smile:

I love Backgammon and Chess. But otherwise I enjoy Apples to Apples, Monopoly, Scrabble, Battleship, and Life.

I’ve never took the time to play Risk though. It’s on my to do list.

Monopoly would be the board game of choice in my family. Sometimes things would get too political, alliances would be formed, egos would be bruised, arguments created. My mom used to steal money from the bank when no one was looking.:rofl:

Ah yes, we have it too! It is called the same in Dutch (mens erger je niet = mensch ergere Dich nicht).

We also have a traditional game called Loteria which is like bingo with tarot cards almost.

Hahaha oh that is bad! My son is very strict with the rules. But when i used to play with friends, my friend gave her husband the nickname “manipuliefje”. As a drawing together of manipulatief (manipulative) and liefje (sweetie). He always won and always used to make bonds and break them and manipulate everyone into doing what he wanted. :slight_smile:

I think some solo board games would be cool too. Like the military D-Day or Sherlock Holmes. I’ve never tried them but they look fun.

That seems nice, they are interesting games, but i kind of like the social aspect of it too. I like to sit in a (kids friendly) bar in the afternoon with my kid and play and chat. :slight_smile: Or as in the past, to have a wine, a game and a laugh with friends. I have new friends, a few, but i still kind of miss the old, especially when i talk about them.

I agree with you about the social aspect of board games. Absolutely. That’s why I like chess and backgammon as there can be friendly banter or you can play as serious as you wish.

Ah, nice!

Mensch = human
Argere (with dots) = to feel annoyed, upset, to fret??
Dich = you
Nicht = not

So it means something like: man, dont get (“yourself”) annoyed! Correct me if im wrong, im not german. Or english.
