Best antipsychotic when you have pcos/hypothyroidism?

I have these and i suspect i may be getting insulin resistance too.

Im on olanzapine 5mg and flouxetine 10mg.

Im not sure what else i can take tbh. I have tried aripriprazole and i hated it with a passion i didnt feel like myself.

Was thinking about going back on quetiapine but im just curious as to if it will even help me.

Many of the better drugs arent available in my country braxpriprazole/karxt/lourasidone ect so im not sure what else i can take.
I was also thinking of paliperidone but not sure of that either. I dont know what else i can do.

I feel like im turning in to a man becouse of pcos

But out of curiosity I asked A.I.

Choosing the best antipsychotic for someone with PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) and hypothyroidism requires careful consideration, as both conditions can be influenced by the metabolic side effects of these medications. Here are some key points to consider:

  1. Metabolic Impact: Some antipsychotics, especially second-generation ones like olanzapine and clozapine, are associated with weight gain, insulin resistance, and other metabolic issues, which can exacerbate PCOS and hypothyroidism43dcd9a7-70db-4a1f-b0ae-981daa16205443dcd9a7-70db-4a1f-b0ae-981daa162054.

  2. Prolactin Levels: Antipsychotics that increase prolactin levels (e.g., risperidone) may worsen menstrual irregularities and other symptoms of PCOS43dcd9a7-70db-4a1f-b0ae-981daa162054.

  3. Safer Options: Aripiprazole and lurasidone are often considered better options for individuals concerned about metabolic side effects, as they tend to have a lower risk of weight gain and insulin resistance43dcd9a7-70db-4a1f-b0ae-981daa16205443dcd9a7-70db-4a1f-b0ae-981daa162054.

  4. Individualized Treatment: The choice of antipsychotic should be tailored to the individual’s specific needs, considering the severity of their psychiatric condition, the side effect profile of the medication, and their overall health.

It’s essential to consult with a healthcare professional, such as a psychiatrist or endocrinologist, to determine the most appropriate medication and to monitor for any potential side effects.

lurasidone is available in the UK where you are.
