I have a pretty bad back. Made worse by my weight and posture.
Mostly I get really bad spasms in my back which are really painful
I don’t want to go down the painkillers route.
Anyone done yoga?

Can you get an xray of your back ? If they can see what’s happening with it…..you may have a bulging disc. If they can see what’s wrong then they can treat it.
I also get spasms and awful back ache……and they found a bulging disc in my lower back. I suspect I have 2 more at the top too.
I’ve been offered physio which I’m waiting for.
I don’t like taking painkillers. Naproxen doesn’t even touch it and it’s bad for kidneys. So now I’ve been given cocodamol. I do take this one but not often as it’s addictive. Only when the pain is out of control.
Hope you feel better soon
Hey @Qwerty - thanks for the reply
Yeah I think I would benefit from an x ray. They thought I had a bulging disc like 12 years ago when I had bad sciatica for like 4 months.
Was on tramadol at the time for it
This new back pain is further up though. I was filling the kettle one time and my back just went. I ended up with a numb bit of skin.
I got an emergency appointment with the gp and like you he gave me cocodamol. Kinda worked.
Man I hope your back gets better too. Is really horrible isn’t it’s? Did your pregnancies make your back worse - I heard they can do that
Yes you would definitely benefit from an xray.
“Did your pregnancies make your back worse - I heard they can do that”
Oh boy yes. Especially my last pregnancy carrying a 9 pound 3 baby. My back had never been as bad as when I gave birth to my youngest.
I went to physical therapy for the arthritis in my lower back. It really helped, I went without pain for 4 months afterwards. My insurance paid for it.
staying active. i learned from a doctor on youtube when i got my back injury that the injury tends to heal on its own, but part of the spine cannot repair itself without light movement. it requires some small amount of stress via daily walks etc to actually fully heal the soft materials i believe. He said if the pain is a 10 you should not exercise but if its like a 3-4 then walking can actually help it heal. Nearing the end of my injury i tried to walk every day, at first i coudlnt walk far but now i can walk nonstop without pain.
sorry about your back @el_Jimbobbio I have a bad back too…
