Does anyone have good experiences with benzos like Xanax, Klonopin, etc… for anxiety.
Yes and I don’t think there are any drugs better at controlling anxiety than benzos. The problem is long term they cause dependence and WD symptoms. I stopped taking mine because they impaired my memory and started making me feel listless and bored.
I stopped taking mine too and get by on L-theanine now. Benzos are only for short term use anyway as your body gets used to them and they become ineffective.
Yeah I was taking Klonopin for years.
It stopped working after a while.
I successfully got off of them recently.
Benzos poop out after a while and they are addictive.
They make good short term Emergency medications but make poor long term maintenance medications.
I like Gaba and l-theanine. Gaba only works for certain people. I’m glad it works for me though.
Klonipin works great on my lip pressing habit. I think that it is based upon anxiety otherwise Klonipin would not work upon it. I take 0.5 mg twice a day as needed.
I’ve been on diazepam (‘valium’) and clonazepam (‘klonopin’) for anxiety at various points and they always worked well with no significant side effects that I could notice, and when I was in hospital I was given lorazepam (‘ativan’) whenever I had a panic attack which also worked well with no significant side effects.
As to long term use and withdrawals, I was taking them for probably more than a year and had no particular trouble when stopping. The only reason I stopped was because doctors don’t like to prescribe any of them long term
If you only took them at particularly anxious moments not daily I think there shouldn’t be any problems
but in order for me to function I’d have to take them daily
I took them daily for 6 months or more a few years ago and was fine, but did sometimes have to increase the dose because of building tolerance.
Ideally they should be taken prn on a less than daily basis to stay as effective as possible. I’d suggest trying to find something else for the daily level anxiety and save the benzos for the particularly bad moments of anxiety
Did they help with social anxiety?
i took 6mg of clonazepam for about 4 years and went thru with drawl coming off it. I have been off it for 3 years now and i feel normal again. I take gabapentin for anxiety and it works well for a non narcotic anxiety med
Yes they did. Not as much as I hoped maybe, but at least as much as other anxiety meds I’ve taken without as bad side effects
I’m on klonopin but it barely works for me anymore. Not sure what to do. Switch benzos? Doubt my pdoc would switch me or up my dosage. She’s very stingy with the narcotics
L-theanine is amazing for anxiety. Also, it produces Alpha brainwaves, so you’re more alert and can think better, but you’re calm (no jitters like caffeine causes).
I buy L-theanine from lifeextension.com It’s trial and error to find the daily dose that works for you.
