I’m taking Clonazepam for anxiety but I’m worried about the long term effects…

Yup. I take it everyday. 
I take 0.5mg at bedtime everyday.
i used to take it and when i stopped i got intense withdrawal symptoms, still struggling 7 months later

I used to. If you take it at the prescribed dose as you should you shouldn’t really have any issues long term. The issue starts when people abuse it.
I take 0.5 mg mixed with 65mg of Benadryl for sleep. It’s helped a lot with sleep.
benzos can and do still cause issues for a significant amount of people when taken as prescribed

Didn’t say they didn’t, I’m sure there are people who have issues. Plenty also do not. The main issue comes from when doctors prescribe w vague statements like “take as needed”. That’s a slippery slope.
Does it cause weight gain?
No, whether it is a low or higher dose, taken short term or for 20 plus years, there’s zero weight gain. Slight short-term memory loss for about 6mo-1yr is the only likely downsided side effect but it passes. Hope this helps!
The only long-term “issue” with any benzodiazapine seen, in particular Klonopin, is short term memory loss. Other basic side effects at first dosing period are slight lethargy or drowsiness, with klonopin you may become slightly more irritable than usual but this passes after you level off at your new therapeutic dose. Klonopin has a half life of 72 hours, making it extremely effective in helping psycotic based neuro diseases like Schizophrenia. It can also be taken PRN to PREVENT full blown psychotic break. The benefits significantly outweigh slight memory loss for the short term. I prescribed it a lot. I’ve been on all benzos in the past and I’ve now been on a syeady dose of 1mg twice a day PRN for 15 years. It’s a gift to to be able to have this drug in my tool box. Hope this helps. You can take 0.5mg of Clonazepam safely on a daily basis.
Never read anywhere that Klonopin is an antipsychotic or is used to treat sz, its for panic disorder, wikipedia says to take caution when used for schizophrenics because of increased violent behavior. I never tried it so can’t confirm.
“Clonazepam is not recommended for patients with chronic schizophrenia. A 1982 double-blinded, placebo-controlled study found clonazepam increases violent behavior in individuals with chronic schizophrenia.”
Its Used for paranoia and act calming so i guess its a Personal choice.
Actually, starting dose is 0.25mg once a day. Max dose prescribed per 24 hours is 4mg of clonazapam…just a little FYI <3
