Who takes lorazepam or any other benzodiazepine?

I’d like to start using lorazepam regularly but I don’t think benzos can be taken for more than 4 weeks. And I’d like to take them forever. What benzo do you guys take, what dose, how often and for how long have you been taking them?

I’ve been Taking lorazepam for about 2 years it was given to me when I was in hosptail first to help calm me down when I get distressed with voices and other things, it helps me take away the Agitation

Benzos don’t work long term.

I took Klonopin everyday for years and it stopped working.

Benzos work better as prn’s - on an as needed basis.

I’ve been taking lorazepam for over 3 years. I take it at night. I’m not sure if it does anything (2.5mg) but I couldn’t drop it due to withdrawals

I tried taking both Ativan and Xanax. Neither had any discernible effect on me. Didn’t even make me tired. I was surprised but also relieved. I don’t have a very good track record with those sorts of things.

I take 0.5 mg Klonipin only as needed and I don’t take it every day. I try to control my anxiety with daily meditation and CBD oil, which both work fairly well.

So, you stopped your antipsychotic injection, and now you want to take benzos? That doesn’t sound like a good plan.

I take Oxazepam somewhat often (other times I don’t for months) & Lorazepam the few times things really suck. During switches in medication I can get Nitrazepam if it messes up my sleep, that one is amazing for both anxiety & sleeping.
However; benzodiazepines work best as a prn, in recommended dosages & taken just when really needed. Avoiding long stretches of daily dosages is usually a good idea, there are far better medications out there for handling things on a long-term basis.

Wow 2 years is a long time. How many pills per day do you take and what dosage?

The one thing I’m afraid of is withdrawal. Apparently you can get seizures from sudden withdrawal.

Wow 3 years is such a long time. The longest I was on benzos was 4 to 6 weeks when I was in hospital. So you haven’t developed a tolerance to it? And you’re not addicted?

I’m guessing benzos are stopped after 4 weeks due to a tolerance.

I just read wiki on benzo dependence and tolerance…I’ll only take it once in a while as tolerance can develop after a few days. Also withdrawal can cause the opposite of the therapeutic effect.

I read somewhere you should cap it at two weeks because you get used to them

I probably have developed tolerance but it still helps me fall asleep.

I’m taking special kind of benzo called frisium(clobazam) since 2 years daily for clozapine induced seizures and it does not cause tolerance at all. I’ve developed tolerance to sedation and anxiety though but no tolerance to seizure treatment.

I take lorazepam 1 mg up to four times a week as needed. I’m scared of being addicted though so I only take it when I’m really bad with anxiety.
