I’m a fan of using Benadryl for akathisia AND TD. One issue tho is it works great the first few days and then it’s just so so after u start using it daily. Usually 50-75 mg is the sweet spot. But it doesn’t stop it really it just kinda tones it down. And idk for sure if what I have is td but when I workout I stick my tongue out a lot and move it around in my mouth. And at night I suck on my tongue and touch my teeth with it. Ik it prob sounds weird but I blame invega. I literally have to get Invisalign again bc it pushed my teeth out. For that I’m livid. OH and gabapentin works too a little bit but I need like 800 mg for it

Benadryl is the best option for something OTC. I wouldn’t consider it ideal for regular use because it can make you super foggy. If you’re having symptoms of TD I would talk to your doc about an Rx for something like benztropine. It can really help and is easier to tolerate as a daily med. You have to experiment with the time you take it and dosing but I’ve found it’s most effective to take with your antipsychotic dose to lessen the symptoms as well as prevent them. That would go for Benadryl as well.

I have tremors and 50 mg of Benedryl controls them. Don’t think I quite have TD though.
